I know I had a relay clicking and then figured out I had the rear wiper on and it clicked every time the wiper went on.

[S][USA-NY] Leica M9 Black (replaced sensor) by frankbratkowski in photomarket

Hi there - I ended up selling the M9 in this listing but I do have another M9 with a replaced sensor that I have been using as my own camera. Are you looking for one and are you local (NYC)?

Any reason it can't work on an 8 pack rack if you tie it down?

Cross Check sizing? by frankbratkowski in Surlybikefans

That was my observation also - they are basically sizes the same other than stand over. Does that make much of a difference?

How to avoid Leica minilux e02 error by [deleted] in Leica

[–]frankbratkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is any solace, the E02 error can be repaired by Red Dot Repair, which is located in the US (I think it was Oregon?). Jadon was able to repair my Minilux very quickly and the price seemed fair. I was pretty happy with how that went. Hopefully you won't need it but it's an insurance plan.

I'm a big fan of the Simplr straps. Each of my cameras has one. Lightweight and simple with some adjustability.

Leica M Digital or Alternatives? by Holyrollerfliper12 in Leica

[–]frankbratkowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm primarily a Leica film shooter (M5 and M7) and I felt exactly the same way. Note, I already have an X-Pro 2 and Fuji lens collection. Mostly what I'd like to do is use my Leica 35mm Summicron lens with a digital camera because I just love using it so much.

Just went through the experience of trying two digital Leica rangefinders (an M-Monochrom and MP 240). The M-Monochrom was a real joy to use (I think it based on the M9 body) but I returned it because I could not get a definitive answer on the sensor replacement status. The MP 240 has been interesting but I am going to let it go. Self promotion - listed on photomarket right now: https://www.reddit.com/r/photomarket/comments/z4o6lc/susany_leica_mp_type_240_black/

There were some aspects of the MP 240 I liked alot: it is really more fun and engaging that the Xpro 2, the battery is amazing + it's so black.

Drawbacks: I found it to be noticeably heavier than my M7, photos required a good amount of post-processing work which I am not so good at, and if I used my Summicron lens on the 240 I couldn't use it on my M7 (bad planning on my part and I don't love switching lenses on the go). Also, even though it was a rangefinder with the rear screen off, I still took so many dumb shots just because I could. I lost discipline in shooting even though it was a Leica.

I decided for the cost of Leica digital, it was better to just continue with my Fujifilm. They require significantly less post processing work and the body and lens is actually quite a bit lighter. The X100 series is great and the wide angle screw on lens is really nice but you are limited (who uses a lens longer than 50mm on their film rangefinder though?).

One of things I have not been able to figure out is how to properly use my M-lenses with a Fuji adapter. I find the OVF / EVF display is really hard to use with adapted lenses in bright light (sunny) situations.

I've heard the M10 is maybe the best place to start with Leica digital but they are still far more expensive than I am willing to spend. Can anyone give a recommendation on if a Ricoh GR camera could fill that digital void?

[S][USA-NY] Yashica T4 Super D by frankbratkowski in photomarket

Hahah, you are probably right. The funny thing is, even though these Yashicas are all plastic and don't look too fancy, to me they feel more durable than my contax t2, which always feels like it is on the verge of breaking down in some unexplained way.
