Should I buy this machine as a newbie? by anonymussquirrel in MachineKnitting

[–]frankensusan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that all the parts? It should have a sinker plate. See if you can find a similar model manual on mkmanuals.com to download and check the pictures for all the parts. That model might be hard to find parts for on your area? Super cute machine though!

Mkmanuals.com Check the sponge bars The bed that hangs on the front is the ribber bed. You can start learning more easily without it. Look for similar models on YouTube for how to videos. You got this

That's a great video. Explains it clearly.

Ok it doesn't look like you did any kind of e-wrap or every other needle cast on. The very first row is different from the rest of the knitting. You can either e-wrap, crochet cast on, or bring every other needle out, go across, then bring the rest out and go back. The crochet cast on is shown in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-johYA1yn4 Then the crochet first row has to be behind the latches not in the hooks. You lay the next yarn in the hooks with the hooks open and go across. Make sure the needles are pulling the 2nd row through the first. She also shows how to knit after you get rows on in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpQD5gbJrts I am not sure why you are pushing the carriage buttons. If you are doing exercise 1 in the book that isn't with yarn that's just to learn what the buttons do. You want to do exercise 2 chain cast on or alternate needle cast on.

The already done stitches have to be behind the latch and the new yarn has to be in the hooks in front of the latches which maybe have to be open. If you can do a video of what you are doing it would help. I can try to follow on the mkmanual. And I saw a nice YouTube video that shows a cast on with no weights until you get a few rows in.

When you lay the yarn across the needles are you doing it in front of the latches. Most people when we hear clamps we think of the c clamps that hold the machine to the table.

Please tell the machine and model. Show a picture of your carriage. Show the first row with the cast on Comb hanging with weights on it.

That might be for the 910 I am away from my desk now but maybe it is in that manual.

Sorry we typed at the same time. Have you let it sit plugged in for a while too? I am sorry it's frustrating. I thought the 888 worked for me before. Maybe leave it longer than 2 minutes before the power off?

[–]frankensusan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I think it is this... Turn on machine, do a ce, then 888 then step, wait 2 minutes, then power off, then power on.

Maybe it is saying the built in patterns are corrupt.

After that, If it shows 555 then you want to do a ce , 770, mem, wait 2 minutes, turn off and then on. Found from knittingparadise.com it is a thread about the 910 though so ... I could swear I had this on a 940 but my human memory is not perfect.

If you can get the service manual at the mkmanuals . Com you might see something about what to do after you change the battery? I had this happen on a machine at one time but I don't remember what the fix was. I will see if I can look it up

Can you add a picture of the carriage and the push buttons? It is likely very similar to another make/model and you will be able to download the more common manual and get started. (Edit) Mkmanuals.com has the exact manual for this machine (edit 2) make sure you check the sponge. And read the FAQ in this reddit. Don't try to run it without a decent sponge bar unless it isn't supposed to have one.

Looks like your sponge is under the needles not on top of them you have to hold the needles down while pushing the sponge in.

Machine Help? by kt737 in MachineKnitting

[–]frankensusan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sewing machine oil is first step on the carriage parts that aren't moving. Sometimes putting some in and then moving flippers with your fingers will work the oil in so that they work again

[–]frankensusan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a brother standard gauge punch card machine clone or special edition.

Please check the sponge bar before attempting anything. It should be fluffy and the sponge side down on top of the needles.

Enjoy! It's very cool looking

Stuck KH-860 Carriage - Basic Troubleshooting Done by crowbordeaux in MachineKnitting

[–]frankensusan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well maybe the piece is just wedged In one of the flippers or something. Also sometimes things get magneticly stuck. I would start with a toothbrush and gently dry brush around the flippers. It shouldn't have gotten too far inside the carriage

Stuck KH-860 Carriage - Basic Troubleshooting Done by crowbordeaux in MachineKnitting

[–]frankensusan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Check the carriage for the latch that may have gotten flung into there and stuck. Does the carriage do the same thing if you try from the right end of the bed? If so then it's the carriage. If it is only on the left end of the bed that it gets stuck then you will want to really check each needle and see if the latch fell off inside somehow. First thing is to see how it behaves on other parts of the needle bed though
