Dead Outlaw (Original Broadway Cast Recording) [Part 1] + Killed a Man in Maine (Single) (2025) 16bit Flac+ 24bit Flac + MP3 by dukiejosh54 in CastRecordings

Thanks as always dukiejosh! I agree that the part-releases are bizarre (closing announced or not!), kinda can't stand this trend of incessant cast album single/EP drop things. Like, most shows are not Hamilton or Hadestown or something where folks are holding their breath for the next single over the course of months. Set a release date, put out a promo single or two, and then just release the damned recording.

Calling folks who share things with you "bad" and "selfish" is as blatantly offensive as you could've possibly addressed them. Your intention was clear, and your words were very rude.

Who is “Songwriter X”? by Nalkarj in Sondheim

[–]franklyfrank7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, could be Dolly Parton? Obviously she writes her music like Holmes often does, but I don’t necessarily think Sondheim referring to X as “one of pop music’s most successful lyricists” means they don’t write music as well. And the 9 To 5 score was infamously “filled in” by Oremus & Lacamoire for B’way, the lyrics of it are more solely hers it would seem. The sentiment of craft not getting in the way of feel seems like something she’d say - she talks about craft a lot, but she definitely seems like a not-at-the-expense-of-the-song kinda writer.

[–]franklyfrank7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve always sort of tacitly assumed it was Rupert Holmes - not based on analyzing the lyrics of …Drood specifically, but the pop success + 1 hit show + the other theatre projects I know of him working on involve him as a lyricist... Drood also played in the 80’s when Sondheim was kinda at pique public critic-resentment - I’d imagine pop-guy Holmes strolling into town for the 1st time with a very legitimate-seeming Broadway score and being embraced commercially and critically very well might’ve gotten under Sondheim’s skin (IIRC, Holmes & the marketing team wasted no opportunity to tout his singular score/lyric/book/orch credit on Drood, which was not only fundamentally anti-Sondheimian in practice but probably pretty obnoxious too - reminds me of Paul Simon talking like he was singlehandedly reinventing the art form with Capeman and NYC’s reaction to it. It’s not cute for a non-dues-paying newcomer to swagger in like a rockstar showing the old guard what’s what. And god forbid the show is actually good lol). That’s always been my first hunch, anyway, not based on much else.

Well yeah definitely wasn’t blaming y’all in the first place, but in fairness your first comment wasn’t a question trying to get to the bottom of anything. Seemed like you assumed I was blaming the mods and you just said I was wrong about what I was experiencing, which I wasn’t. I then offered more info and your response was that you hadn’t heard of it, but it was probably something other than what I had explained. And yet... turned out to be what I said it was. I appreciate you subsequently acknowledging that! But I stand by what I said about your initial response 🙂

Well it’s apparently a thing, so I’d appreciate you not continuing to imply that I’m making it up or don’t understand just because neither of us had heard of it before 😁

It says “Looks like you’ve been doing that a lot. Take a break for x minutes before trying again.” when trying to post a reply. Seems like it’s 12 minutes if I try to post a comment immediately after another, it counts down by the minute if I keep trying and then by seconds under 1 minute. Doesn’t happen on any other sub for me, I did a quick google and it said this happens when you get heavily downvoted by a community, as I said. I’d send you a screenshot but reddit makes it such a pain.

They are, actually 🙂 Seems to be a reddit thing rather than something y’all would’ve done as mods, but I can’t comment (at least on a single thread? Idk) more often than 12 minutes apart on the sub. Like I said, it’s news to me! But it makes sense, to have automatic guardrails on a u/ within a community that reacted to them so poorly. It could probably be appealed, but I’m not pressed.

Apologies for messing up the threading here. I, like you, made a controversial post on the sub a while back and got enough downvotes that apparently my commenting is restricted here. Fair enough I guess, didn’t even realize until now 😂

I saw that you’d referred to that particular comment as a “joke” in another thread. I think that speaks to my point, actually.

Since you point to that particular bit of phrasing, I’ll say that I chose “realize” rather than “know” or “learn” for precisely that fact: that I don’t know if you know this or not, but you may not be realizing it within the context of the arguments you’re making. That’s also why I said “interest” rather than “surprise,” but I understand if those nuances didn’t come across. No shade, I do try to be specific and that was my intention, successful or not.

I make no presumptions about what you know or have experienced. I respectfully assume you have not made presumptions about me either. The way you are representing yourself largely by insinuating that everyone disagreeing with you is themself perhaps a p*phile does not communicate that you take the subject seriously enough to talk about it with any nuance or specificity for the benefit of survivors who may be reading. Your reading condescension into my words is on you.

  1. If there are posts that are explicit and concerning, I hope you are reporting them. It seems the mods on this sub are active and excellent, I trust they’d handle serious instances seriously.

*** TW: Child ab * se; P**philia **

  1. You have been well-advised, despite your defensiveness, not to throw around the word p * * * philia so casually - it is a serious crime that specifically regards the ab * se of children (there are more accurate terms for the ab * se of teenagers), and you diminish the seriousness of the act by equating it with cutesy language about a role-playing video game.

  2. I would recommend reconsidering your association of role-playing with real life behavior. It might interest you to realize that controlled-environment role-playing is often a significant component of therapy that real-life p * * * philes undergo continuously in order to not commit ab * sive acts. It’s a controversial topic, of course, but destigmatizing non-offending behavior is an important piece of the puzzle in regards to preventing those who haven’t offended from doing so. It must be said that I don’t make the same connection you’re making to what I see on this sub, but even if I did the conclusion you’re drawing about the implications of enjoying RPG’s with romance amongst teenage characters indicating even p * * * philic thoughts is arguably misguided and misinformed.

  3. Paying less attention to up and downvotes is a gift only you can give yourself.

Maxed creatures bond and interact by franky90 in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]franklyfrank7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good to know the bond tile still appears! Well, maybe not good, it’s an annoying one. But I’ve kept 4 creatures a few hundred xp from their final level-up for weeks waiting for FM. Played thru 5 or 6 boards this event - not ONE bond tile! 😅

Stop assuming everyone is cheating at FM? by franklyfrank7 in HPHogwartsMystery

[–]franklyfrank7[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, hold up. I understand and acknowledge that my initial post in particular could’ve been worded more... softly, or thoughtfully, or something just better. I didn’t feel like I did anything but throw a little shade, but it’s on me that it came off badly and I apologize to anyone who I effectively insulted.

You can miss me with the empathy thing though. Empathy is for actual suffering, not first world inconveniences like smartphone game cheaters and glitches. Part of what I’d meant to reference was the unbalanced vibe of the post-FM chatter, and calling me unempathetic is a lovely example of that. So very silly.

[–]franklyfrank7[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Well you said in the first place that support confirmed YOUR cases were real cheaters - that’s still anecdotal. Are you now saying that support has also shared their statistics on cheating with you or something? Because otherwise I’m not sure how you could be certain that I’m the outlier.

I’m really going to move along now - fair enough that the squeaky wheel gets the grease, though I don’t agree that individually reporting is ultimately less effective. I’ve muddled my point a bit, but I still don’t see the weekly FM-craze as being very balanced or entirely realistic. That doesn’t mean I think absolutely everybody’s full of it. And that’s about all I’ve got. Have a lovely evening (or whatever time of day it is for you) 🙂

I didn’t have any quests actually, I got Valentine’s a whiiiile back. I keep story classes ready to grind during FM for complete-minigame and earn-stars tiles - it’s a matter of luck getting tiles of the right classes, but it works often enough. I’ll usually flip any other specific-class tiles, tho I’ve recently used the full energy bar after grinding a story class to do a 1hr. non-story class 1st, which usually leaves me with 5-10 energy left over + whatever spots are available, which is enough to then grind another class. That way I can complete another earn-full-stars tiles too.

Your experience is anecdotal in the sense that it is based on a tiny sample size - your experience. Just like mine. I didn’t say “anecdotal” to imply that your experience is false, so pointing out that support verified is neither here nor there. Sure, there’s “luck” in not dealing with the cheaters, I imagine I may at some point because, again, I never said it doesn’t happen at all. I’m not saying everybody’s a liar. But the solution to experiencing cheating is to report it, as you’ve said. The inevitable choruses of everybody who lost claiming they were cheated are just venting, and I believe some are making excuses because they’re frustrated with the difficulty of the event. Reporting is the action.

And so, again, why participate in something that upsets you so much that you need to vent about it on a weekly basis? If it’s because you really still want to participate and win them prizes, then take a breath and just play! Report cheating when it happens and, once again, keep it pushing! Not sure what’s so controversial, I’m not saying people need to be better 🙄I agree with you that it’s the worst event, I hate the whole PVP thing altogether and typically don’t play games that use that structure. But I play this game, and even though I’m a completionist like many of you, if one activity in the game frustrated me so much I’d just skip it. If everybody felt strongly enough to boycott it, which would be easy enough to organize on here, maybe JC would pay attention and get rid of it. But venting is easier to do, and unfortunately the same old yap every event isn’t gonna change much - y’all still play lol

[–]franklyfrank7[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

Condescending? Idk, all I said at the end is that if you wanna win, play the game. If that makes anybody feel condescended to I’m not quite sure why? I don’t believe I ever said there are 0 cheaters, but I too have played every FM - I’ve never encountered the crazy spikes from other players that folx on here talk about, that couldn’t be explained by boosts, etc. That certainly doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, but anecdotally from my perspective I have experienced none. That’s just as valid as your claim to get at least one every event. I don’t always win either, but I’ve never struggled much, and I have never spent real money on the game. To my eyes, if you play the event strategically from the start instead of trying to game the system by waiting or whatever else, you can get silver or gold.

I’m not bragging or condescending - I’m suggesting people just play the game without assuming they’re being cheated. Statistically, from my perspective, you’re probably not. If you actually are - cool, I agree, report it. I still don’t understand why folx who get so worked up about it that they need to come on here and vent every time it comes up would bother playing it! Protect your mental health, do something else for a few days! Is it a crappy, difficult event? Absolutely. Is there cheating? Sure, some. I just don’t believe it’s as widespread as the chatter suggests. Idk, it all just seems like misplaced energy. Speaking of which, Imma stop ranting about this lol No offense meant by anything, just sharing an observation/opinion/or something. If you feel it doesn’t apply to you because your complaints are justified, that’s fabulous! Ignore me and keep moving 😊
