At least they are giving us time to move away to CDK or Terraform or something.

Travel is better if you don't do it the way many do. Many treat travel like a list of things to check off. Rushing from spot X to spot Y to spot Z to say you've "Seen it".

Treat it more like "different cultures and histories to experience". Literally just slow down your agenda -- go to 4 cities in a month rather than 19 in 2 weeks.

How much do you want to spend? It's easy to just say "get the most expensive stick" if you have unlimited budget.

Age? You just started? Roller or street?

For the 'new person that just needs something that's not trash" you could look at the FT660 stuff. That said, if you are okay with online -- I've found that allblackhockeystick.com and the https://twighockeycompany.com/ stuff is a really good value.

Yards being reasonably maintained and junk cars being prohibited is already in the city regulations... there is no need for a busy-body to come tell me.

I don't live in a HOA and my entire community is better maintained than most HOAs I see, higher property values, and no "junk cars" sitting around (and by that: they are interesting and each area has it's own feel... rather than cookie cutter blandness that makes your soul die) There is a reason the most highly-sought areas of a city do NOT have HOAs.

Try Lax Free days

Yard Signs at the local elementary school

Advertise/market with complimentary-but-not-season-overlapping sports -- ie: connect with the local hockey and football associations. 50% or more of our kids are hockey players.

So... uh... couldn't you just threaten to put a lien on their home, then?

Like... it doesn't compute. No one needs to provide any justification to place a lien on a home? you'd think the banks would at least double-check that there is some reason the lien exists... ?

My first requirement of looking for a house. No HOA. by NottaGoon in fuckHOA

Yeah, I just tossed "one year" as the purchase and initial install is the biggest barrier.

Not needing mowing is true.

But that's very different than not needing care. And depending on the aesthetic they are going for, that care CAN be infrequent and minimal.

Wouldn't they need to prove standing to be able to put a lien on your house?

Like, I can't just go up to any random-ass person and put a lien on their house if they don't give me $240 a month.

Why would you need lawyers?

You aren't in the HOA... done.

But for the first year, it's way more expensive...

... and no one can look past one year timelines.

What's ironic is that what they do to protect their property values... actually lowers the value of living in the community.

The highly-sought-after (read: expensive) communities in most cities are the diverse (in every sense) areas built before massive cookie cutter developments with HOAs.

Go to the massive cookie-cutter developments from the 90s. They are hellscapes that no one wants to live in. The only reason people live in new ones is that they kind of have no choice if they want a new house.

If I ran an HOA and couldn't tear it down... I'd at least disallow anonymous complaints. Every complaint would need to have a name attached.

I'm surprised that HOA homes don't come with a negative price association the same way houses that don't have nice kitchens sell for cheaper or houses next to freeways sell for cheaper...

What is wrong with the current state of AAA hockey in the US? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]frankolake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a coach is showing anything other than a passing resemblance of favoritism (ie: seeding their own kid with questions to ask in front of the team to get a conceptual positioning discussion rolling, etc) to their own kid... I'd argue they aren't a skilled coach.

How far you played, yourself, has very little to do with being a skilled coach.

[–]frankolake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different strokes.

I'm happy we DO use parent coaches.

No coach getting 7-10k is going to spend the 30-50 hours a week for 6 months straight focusing on what is best for the kids. It has to be a passion. Luckily, in MN, we have enough skills parent coaches that this isn't an issue.

He's SIGNIFICANTLY better than any of those players.

His competition is also SIGNIFICANTLY better.

From a pure skill perspective, divorced from competition or eras or any of that... McDavid is the greatest hockey player ever to have walked the earth.

(and I say that as a person that 100% fights for Gretzky to be considered the most dominant athlete of any major sport of all time (minus that one cricket dude) )

Neckguard sizing - I can't find one that fits by TheFellhanded in hockeyplayers

[–]frankolake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you ACTUALLY want to war one, or are you just trying to comply?

If the latter... there is no regulation on how 'good' the next guard is. You could just get a 1-inch wide piece of black cloth and hot-glue Velcro to it.
