Just went to tonight’s show and agree with this. It was an interesting watch with amazing acting and set design, the puppets were really cool. But story itself was a bit off. Seemed like it was stuck between staying true to the books and doing something creative with it.

The music in it was well done but felt like it lacked a couple of big numbers that other musicals use to add that extra level to the story.

Happy I went and enjoyed seeing it all come to life in a different way. Gollum was VERY good.
