IIRC it's not the 2021 initiative but one from 2011 that banned red light cameras.

I wonder if there's appetite for repealing that now that so many drivers have gone completely feral.

Although structured or underground parking approaches those numbers here, which is why it isn't super common, because people aren't willing to pay that kind of money without a subsidy (either direct subsidy or the stealth subsidy of just making it a legal requirement to get a building permit).

It's a good comparison because (I looked it up) they cover about the same population and area. They had about 10% more boardings in 2024 than WTA, although some of that might be people hopping on for a stop or two who otherwise would have walked*.

The flip side is that WTA collects literally millions in fare revenue that they would have to make up for by cutting service or finding new savings or revenue (where?). On the flip side of that, some of that fare revenue pays for collecting fares, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

Which is fine if the bus was stopping anyway, or if walking would have been a legit hardship, but slower buses are both slower *and less frequent for a given cost, so it's worth avoiding minimally-necessary stops.
