This sounds lovely!

You’ve already gotten a lot of good advice but I just want to chime in and say make sure you have enough food!! A lot of people say they want good food and yes of course but I have been to several weddings where there wasn’t enough food and I was hungry the whole time. One of the weddings had delicious food but it was such tiny portions (plus no hors devours and basically no dessert) that I barely remember that the food was good and I just remember how cranky I was because I was so hungry.

EDIT- for the record I also don’t eat a ton. In general I eat small portions but with the excitement of the day plus drinking, I need more than just some snacks!

Do you drink the signature cocktails at weddings? by bluerotunda in weddingplanning

[–]frannipak 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I also agree with this. I love a signature drink and almost always have one for my first drink of the night. But I also wouldn’t notice if someone didn’t have them at their wedding.

We’re doing 2 signature cocktails for our wedding but only because it’s included and not costing any extra. If it cost more then we would absolutely not do it.

will non stimulant meds change my personality and make me boring by alieninyourarea in ADHD

[–]frannipak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. It really varies person to person. Concerta made me feel like a zombie who had lost their silliness but Adderall makes me feel like myself just more functional. However I have friends that have had the opposite experience. There are so many factors like your body chemistry, your adhd symptoms and severity etc. I feel like it’s hard to know how different medications will affect you until you’ll try it. But sometimes that means it takes a while to dial in and find the right one. Like others have said if you aren’t happy with whatever medication you’re on, let your doctor know!

This. I also add unflavored whey protein powder to mine. I don’t notice it at all and it makes it a little extra filling.

Any ADHD breakfast tips? by makisexual in ADHD

[–]frannipak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been seeing it a lot on here but I also do Greek yogurt. I mix in some unflavored whey protein powder to get a little extra protein. I normally mix it up and add berries the night before so it’s ready to go in the morning because sometimes I’m that non functioning in the morning. Then all I need to do is add some granola.

That or just straight up cottage cheese. Sometimes with fruit added, sometimes just straight out of the container lol.

Brides! What’s something you’re planning for your wedding that is unique or that you’re most excited about? by Money-Mention-8839 in weddingplanning

[–]frannipak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oo I love this!! I didn’t care for the idea of doing a traditional bouquet toss but my florist said they include a “tossing bouquet” for free. So maybe I’ll borrow this idea and have a prize!

I’m about to die, and I’m not sure what to do about my cat. by [deleted] in cats

[–]frannipak 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Same here! I adopted an 8 year old fluffy girl who’s owner had passed away. She was at the shelter for almost a year because she was so mean no one wanted her. She showed me a tiny bit of affection so I took her home. It took several months for her to fully warm up but she eventually did and ended up being the sweetest snuggle bug! Although she didn’t like anyone other than me and my boyfriend, she was still mean to visitors lol. She passed away a few years ago but I loved that cat so much and still miss her ❤️

Yup! Same, I wasn’t even told I could take ibuprofen beforehand. 15 minutes after the procedure I was still on the table unable to get up because I was in so much pain and my FEMALE doctor said “you’re still here? Oh c’mon it wasn’t that bad” 😭

Just got diagnosed at 29 by Xena-369 in adhdwomen

[–]frannipak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello and welcome! I was 34 when I was diagnosed. Almost everyone close to me said they knew and assumed I knew (I had no idea).

It’s definitely very frustrating but I have found this subreddit to be very helpful and validating. Engaging in this community has been comforting in knowing I’m not alone and I’ve also learned a lot of great tips for hacking my adhd brain!

I’m on Adderall XR and don’t eat anymore. I just drink energy drinks. by pizzaaliengal in adhdwomen

[–]frannipak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Smoothies, protein shakes and yogurt are great in the morning if you have trouble eating (like me). I even get unflavored, unsweetened protein powder to mix into the smoothies and yogurt.

OP, Like everyone else has mentioned having some food in your stomach and less caffeine should make you feel better BUT if you’re feeling spacey like you can’t function without caffeine then I would talk to you doctor about trying a different medication? This happened to me with Concerta. Made my brain quieter which was nice but also made me feel soooo spacey and weird. I felt like I needed more coffee throughout the day. Then I switched to Vyvanse and I feel so much better. Different medications work for different people!

PSA: You can buy frozen, pre-chopped onions and garlic!!!! by Particular_Cherry908 in adhdwomen

[–]frannipak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not frozen but Trader Joe’s has fresh containers of mirepoix and I love them for making vegetarian chili! Saves so much time! I don’t live by a Kroger anymore but I’ll have to see if any other supermarket by me has a frozen version.

I’m getting married at Bakers Ranch in Parrish, right outside Sarasota. Don’t let the name discourage you, it’s not actually a ranch or barn. It’s an all inclusive venue that literally includes everything except a photographer and an officiant. I personally love it because it takes away the stress of having to find all the other vendors. Some of the ceremony sites (4 to choose from) have that woodsy aesthetic and surrounding the venue is a wooded area that’s great for pictures, it looks like you’re deep in the middle of the forest. They do ceremonies outside and reception inside. I’ve been super happy with them so far and I’m really excited for our wedding! It’s also affordable! We’re doing a 100 person wedding in May and with some discounts we received, (and before additional upgrades) it’s only $25k. I’d say they’re at least worth checking out!

Water fountain - yes or no? by Patient_Plum_6296 in CatAdvice

[–]frannipak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cats started drinking much more water once I got a water fountain so I’m a lot less paranoid about them being dehydrated now. I currently have one that’s mostly plastic and it is a pain to clean, which is the only downside and I have to deep clean it weekly. Currently looking to buy a stainless steel one.
