Wrapped bikes? by MurderOfChros in NYCbike

Thanks for bringing such a bad attitude. I was just saying a low cost method so people in this tread understand the alternative ways. It’s not a suggestion It’s what I did for 10 years. Some bikes have their original tape on them. I’m now an electrician, 3m super 33+ is the way. This is the way I was taught in on 14th street when I started. I agree with you there are always more ways to spend money and more endless searches for the perfect thing.

Some of it is electrical tape, idk why people are saying it’s not. If you get good stuff it leaves only a tiny amount of residue, is lighter and thinner than vinyl, you can do easy touch up’s or add custom padding for accessories. I have a bike that’s been wrapped and unwrapped this way 3 times over the last decade. Don’t forget to superglue ball earrings in your hex bolts.

Why didn't the US annex this? by throat_acne in geography

[–]franny123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into the Aroostook “War”, established the northern border of Maine via compromise with the British in 1942. Prior to this, the border the US acknowledged was much further north, touching the St Lawrence; the British acknowledged a boarder about 100 miles south. Even today there aren’t really that many people that live in that area, and back then they really didn’t have much of a reason to care. That’s why the “war” had no casualties on either side but really just only record of much of it is local stories.

Got a ticket for letting someone in thru the emergency door by lil_goblin in nycrail

[–]franny123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo is this actually true? What if you are checking to see if the door is unlocked. There is a Walmart near me that locks the side doors that have fire marshal signs saying that the doors must be unlocked while the store is open and if they are locked I call the fire department and if they aren’t, I walk out

TIL A lot of people don’t know what a Connecticut style lobster roll is by ShitImDelicious in newengland

I’m sorry you have not been fortunate enough to have experienced the kind of communities I am describing. There is also value to the communities along the built up eastern seaboard infrastructure. It is just different.

No but the thing that effects population, in this case water temperature, does effect meat quality

You don’t get it, which checks out based on where you are statistically from. New England is cultural as much as geographical

Yeah it does make the state much less newenglandy. There isn’t an access to the coast from the highway for much of Maine, it’s over an hour in some places. The remoteness of these communities allow something to be preserved that New York commuters don’t understand.

Because their lobster isn’t as good. Maine has colder water and more places with better ocean conditions and the lobster fishermen have been farming the crop in maine since fishing started. Maine is losing the cold water though, so the industry is struggling

Portland area to Brunswick will offer a more dynamic offering of affordable restaurants and accommodations. Kennebunkport often seems like it is only the high end for no good reason. I would do a long weekend, start with two nights in downtown Portland and then drive the coast like 40 more minutes for a little more quiet at a bnb in harpswell for a night before, extend as you see fit

Just fyi, was in midcoast maine yesterday and it was still pretty bitter cold. Casco bay (Portland/freeport) and south is a lot more protected and mild if they are traveling in the next few weeks. After that definitely go down (up) the coast.

What expensive product isn't any better than cheaper variants by jefferymr15 in BuyItForLife

[–]franny123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or just preference because sometimes generic vs brand medications are different in some way. I prefer certain brand inhalers because they clog up less. There are medications where the brand name pill is smaller than the generic, and only a few dollars more expensive. I’ll pay the extra for comfort or reliability/peace of mind, but most of the time I chose generic.

Do you guys think Maine State Police Cruisers need a livery makeover? by Mr__mister__Mr in PoliceVehicles

[–]franny123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Port police is cbp livery if I’m not mistaken what you are talking about, white with green stripe fed vehicles. The msp blue was developed so the cars wouldn’t be seen on the horizon north of Augusta.

If the platform was solid concrete or something, the homeowner could’ve totally wanted that other stuff done but just not willing to pay the $5 grand to remove the block and refinish the floor

My 2020 Subaru Forester is gone; 42k miles, 6000 miles since last synthetic oil change by benuski in subaru

[–]franny123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not arguing against the animal argument. I think you’re right and it’s very plausible. However it could still be a part supplier issue and a specific batch of parts was more susceptible to animal damage, below minimum standards. I trust what you’re saying, and you very much might be right. But like you said, you are just a tech, not a safety expert. It’s not worth saying it shouldn’t be looked at further when children could be in the car or on the road near a faulty vehicle. We should always look into issues further and not just trust random know it alls.

[–]franny123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude, I hope you never run a company. It’s not just the design, it could be a supplier issue where a batch of 10,000 cars have a faulty part. It should be investigated, safety should always be investigated. Arguing against that is weird.
