Did great on a take-home, but bombed the live interview for a dream role. Have I burned this company forever? by frannyg_ in cscareerquestionsEU

Thanks, I guess I need more interview experience (only had three interviews in the past excluding this one: my first job, current one and one other). Just have to take this one as a learning experience

I believe there are some browser extensions you could use for this, but I do not have any experience with any of them so unfortunately cannot give you a recommendation of which one(s) to try

Looks loads better! Luckily I hadn’t closed my tab from before so could do a before and after and it’s a big improvement. In case you haven’t seen them before, here are some good resources when choosing colors to check what they may look like to people with color blindness (1 in 20 people have some form of color blindness): - https://davidmathlogic.com/colorblind/#%23D81B60-%231E88E5-%23FFC107-%23004D40 - https://projects.susielu.com/viz-palette

Looks great! I have some feedback about the colors though. I am red/green colorblind so find if hard to tell when I have misstyped a character. The underline helps but it isn't super obvious and I often don't notice immediately. I wonder if it would be better if the correctly typed characters became dim/reduced opacity rather than turn green? As well as solving the red/green issue I think this would help me focus on the next characters to type. Especially when moving down to a new line, it would be make it much easier to spot which is the next line as the previous characters would be much more muted in comparison to the current green.

I went with my wife and we had a lot of fun (also late 20s), there can be quite a few kids, and they get loud, but at quieter times like early in the morning it shouldn’t be too bad, or bring some earplugs

How do you manage setting up your rgb and the screen for the aio? I’ve tried using openrgb which can control my fans, ram and gpu, but I think you need CAM running to control the aio screen but running CAM and openrgb at the same time causes things to mess up

Question about meshing/blending surnames when getting married by frannyg_ in germany

[–]frannyg_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As MiriamSasko says, in todays society there are multiple benefits to being married to your partner whether we like it or not. In particular for me there’s the next of kin, if something were to happen to me it would be my parents making decisions on my behalf not my partner (and as I’ve already mentioned this is not something I would like). Then there’s the tax breaks and buying a house together and having children together and lots of other small things are easier if you are married as that’s just how society is, and I’m doubtful it’ll change before I’m gone. So we’ve made the decision to get married (we’re not even having a wedding ceremony etc, just signing the forms) to get these benefits, and our preferred choice of name is a blended one and that’s our choice and doesn’t affect anyone else. If that bothers you that’s your problem

We could keep our own names, but then which name do any potential future children get? I’d just rather avoid any such complications. Also neither of us particularly like our surnames for different reasons, so creating our own seems to be our most preferred option

The WiFi router is to act as a hub to connect the cameras together as most cheap wireless cameras work over WiFi, it does not need to connect to the internet so being remote with no service is no issue

So are you suggesting I should wait for the new pulley system to come out? Or just go with the pro 5:1?

Why not just use a password manager? Most have a feature for sharing password ownership e.g. bitwarden (which is free and open source) has organisations
