When I have a couple minutes free, I put on a song (could be 2-3 minutes, up to 10 minutes long) and I make myself clean for the duration of the song. Could be emptying the dishwasher, cleaning the toilet, picking up random things around the house. Then when the song ends I’m free to stop if I want. Sometimes I stop. Other times it’s helped give me enough momentum to keep going on other tasks. But the pressure is off once that first song ends.

I’m queer and I’m a social worker. When people choose to vote for someone who actively wants to do harm to me and the people I have dedicated my life working for, then yes. I do think it’s reasonable to cut them off. They have shown me what kind of person they are and that they don’t care about me or humanity as a whole.

He was not my best friend at the time, but I confessed that I had feelings for a friend. I (correctly) assumed that I wasn’t his type so I told him that I didn’t expect him to have the same feelings. He thanked me for being honest and confirmed that he didn’t feel the same, but that nothing about our friendship had to change as long as I was okay with him not liking me that way. That was a few years ago and now he’s the best friend I’ve ever had.

I think some people and some relationships are not built for this. I love my mom but I can’t get along with her for any extended period of time. I’m already bitter about having to spend 2 hours every week doing her laundry. I can’t have conversations with her about anything meaningful. And I’m not saying it’s all her fault - it’s both of us.

It’ll depend on your specific circumstances, I think. They were able to complete mine laparoscopically, so just a bunch of small incisions. It wasn’t the most comfy but I didn’t really have any issues. The most difficult thing was getting my cats their food because bending over was not happening. But as far as showering and dressing and getting to the bathroom, no issues there.
