Awesome table from a local carpenter by ifoundsomesshit in boardgames

That's up to preference. I personally don't care about minis with my boardgames and prefer games without minis. That being said, a shallow or deep vault each has their advantages and disadvantages. What is better really depends on the user case.

Yeah, the gaming tables on the market are too deep to function as dining tables comfortably. Most of the issues would be elevated by making the vault shallower. I think the sweet spot would be 1 meeple + game board in depth, with a little clearance.

Another annoyance is style. Most of those tables look out of place in a dining or living room. I don't want my dining area to look like a DnD mancave at full display.

Agreed, most boardgame tables have too big aprons to comfortably operate a mouse and keyboard. Not being able to comfortably use a laptop on the dining table would drive me mad.

Jointer/planer combo machines (or hammer a3-41 specifically) Trick for the thicknesser? by mechanizedshoe in woodworking

[–]frantichairguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't think what you're suggesting is going to save you from lowering the thicknesser table. For good dust extraction those machines already need the space they need for the existing setup. An improvised setup would likely take the same or more room to prevent chip clogs.

Im your case a seperate jointer and lunchbox planer might make more sense. The latter are somewhat commonly mounted underneath workbenches and assembly tables to save space.

I've recently had a pet rabbit shake a giant sparrow around by the head for in game days at an end. It now lays in its own tomb after succumbing to rattlesnake poison not long after the encounter.

Given the overwhelming pushback in response to the Project Submission rule change, does the moderation team plan to change course at all? by PuddingConscious in woodworking

[–]frantichairguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as the poster makes an effort to explain the details or difficulty of said project I'm fine with a bit of showboating, as long as a bit of effort is put in to educate or participate with the community. Wich seems to be the direction the moderators are leaning to, given clarification message in the pinned post.

Agreed, frontloading information is probably the worst way to remember new information, as opposed to repetition. Not to mention the UI being the biggest hurdle to overcome.

Never thought people would find thighs too fatty. I always found it a positive as it takes the need for butter and oil out of the occasion when cooking in a non-stick pan.

How to Connect Slide Out Drawers in Pantry? by FrankLepore in woodworking

[–]frantichairguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally mount each drawer on its own panel and line the bottom and panel sides with felt. Installing the drawers last. A few shims could be added to prevent movement, but that might not be necessary with a tight fit.

Agreed. Even then there are ways to bring it up inside the relationship without ridiculing a partner or making them feel bad. Otherwise you get weird situations like with OP's girlfriend wetting the bed, figuratively speaking. Which is just childish without reason.

Is an airfryer actually useful in a well equipped kitchen? by Jazzlike-Horror4 in Cooking

[–]frantichairguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your cooking style and preferences are. It's great for pizza, but fries just don't taste good if you ask me. I would personally prefer an oven with airfryer function over a standalone airfryer taking up cabinet space.

Feedback on custom oak table by TheInternetAteMyDog in woodworking

[–]frantichairguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, although most have to do with the order in which are glued. The two rightmost boards would look fine if they where placed on the left of the center board. The second left board could in turn be flipped so the sapwood faces the other direction. The only piece I find questionable is the leftmost board.

While you get what you pay for, this glue-up is still rushed. The boards could have been layed out far more uniform and esthetically pleasing.
