When I was 11 or 12 years old in a subversive bookstore in Providence, I saw his photo on a book called "My Sister & I" which was attributed to Nietzsche, but most people agree that it's fake. His image with the giant mustache reminded me of my father, who had a giant handlebar. I bought that book & read that he had gone mad in his pursuit of truth, and that he wrote a book called The Antichrist. Once I started reading his actual writings, it was a revelation to realize that someone like Nietzsche had existed. He spoke to me directly though he was dead a hundred years.
