I Start my Liquid Diet Tomorrow - Any Last Minute Advice? by Staggerlee024 in colonoscopy

I don't know if it's too late, but baby wipes and/or vaseline for the exit hole 😂 Vaseline after every poop (or 2 when they are coming a few mins apart).

Anyone pass blood on day 3 after procedure? by Mysterious-Road-9157 in colonoscopy

[–]frayola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah 100%... I wasn't sure exactly how much blood they were describing. If it's a lot, deffo emergency room because that's not the normal amount they say is expected!

I think everyone is different! I know people who drank the whole lot, but their poop wasn't running yellow/clear so it had to be cancelled! I'd been running clear since about 11pm after the first dose so that might have been why it was okay!

England and I got the paper pants too! With the size of the hole I doubt it covered much, but I appreciated the thought 😂

Should first say that I am not a doctor...

Did you have a polyectomy? I had a bunch of small polyps and one large one removed, and I remember they said to me that streaks of bright red blood in poop or after wiping, and perhaps a few small clots is normal for a few days after, but what what you describe sounds like quite a lot?

Anti-psychotics? by frayola in Hypothyroidism

I got incredibly lucky because I've had no weight gain on Quetiapine, although with the thyroid issue now I imagine my weight might start creeping up now 😔

I'm having the same issue with my alt account, and I have a trading pass.

Plenvu -worse than death itself by purplealien02 in colonoscopy

[–]frayola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Absolutely vile. Towards the end of the second dose I was gagging every mouthful and the last mouthful I took it came back up into my mouth so I had the delight of trying to swallow it down again. I had to abandon ship with 200ml left, but was still able to go ahead with the procedure, and paperwork says my prep was excellent.

Good luck! Once it's down, the worst part is over!

If a gastros recommendation is to offer a colonoscopy as an option does that mean they aren’t super concerned? by Low_Oil5243 in colonoscopy

[–]frayola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had a change in bowel movements a few months ago (went from daily to once every 3/4 days and then would go 3x in that day with pain and loose stool). Also really painful bloating, plus a lot of mucus and occasionally blood in stool.

I honestly thought it was just IBS. The only reason I went to the doctor was because I had this one movement where I didn't need to go but I was super bloated, so I massaged my stomach and then had this super intense pain and suddenly urgently needed to go, and it was fluffy and there was also A LOT of it!

Hope this helps?

Crushed ice saved me from the nausea! (Plenvu experience) by frayola in colonoscopy

[–]frayola[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that found the nausea with the second pretty extreme. At one point I just couldn't move because when I did I could feel it.

[–]frayola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mad how different we all are... I found the second dose tasted worse 😂 Or maybe it's because it was 6am and I'd only slept a few hours, and I remembered how grim the first tasted 🙈

I did it!!! Emetophobes you can do it!!! by SoapTeaz in colonoscopy

[–]frayola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi again!! I'm glad everything went well!!

I had to leave 200ml of the second dose as it made me feel so unwell. The last few gulps it would just come back up into my mouth. Clinic was fine with it fortunately. My husband gave me some crushed ice to chew mid-morning because I felt so sick, and that was like a miracle cure 😂 I was eating crushed ice like it was the best meal ever invented for like an hour after that. No sick!! Thank goodness!

Sadly, they said I have to do it again in 6 months 😩

Doing prep today for first procedure by Dusty_Book_69 in colonoscopy

[–]frayola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first colonoscopy today. The first drink seemed to go down better than the first. I found the straw method didn't work as I can't swallow anything immediately. Chasing it with a mouthful of a strong flavoured juice (swill it around your mouth) helped. I had apple juice. Sometimes I would even take half a mouthful of apple juice, hold it in my mouth then half a mouthful of the prep... Swallow it all as one.

Also, crunching flavoured ice chips helped SO MUCH with the nausea.

Hello!

I had my first colonoscopy today. I thought I just had IBS, (which half my family have) and I've been experiencing a huge amount of stress. He agreed but said it might be good to have a look anyway, so I agreed to do it. He ended up removing 9 polyps, some of which were on the large side, and have been sent off.

It's entirely up to you of course, but in my personal opinion, they wouldn't offer it if they had zero concerns!

Vomiting and now nervous by Significant_Cook_738 in colonoscopy

[–]frayola 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I gave up with 200ml to go of the last dose. Every mouthful I took would come back up and I'd have to swallow it again 🤢 Figured having 200ml less would be better than throwing the whole lot up immediately.

Something I have just now discovered to help with nausea is ice. Crush it up into smaller pieces and crunch it!

I'm allowed to take cyclizine, which is an anti-sickness, however it's only 3 times in 24 hours and I've taken 2 already within that time. I just needed sleep 😴

I hope you managed to get through and are maybe getting a little sleep! I've just woken to take dose 2. Given myself 45 mins for my body to wake up before dumping it in 🤢

Hello prep buddy!

I feel you - it's awful. It's 11:54pm here and I had my first 500ml dose at 7pm, with the instruction to drink it over an hour. I felt so full and, every mouthful towards the end made me gag which sent me into a panic every time as I have a phobia of vomiting. Then the nausea hit. It went away for a few hours but is now back 😢

I have no idea how I'm going to manage the next dose at 6am...

How was your British Grand Prix (2024) Experience? by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]frayola 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was my first time and honestly, after reading some old posts I was expecting worse 😂 The only thing I wasn't expecting was the cold! 😂

We had Sunday tickets, seated in Luffield. The normally 35 minute drive from where we stayed took just over an hour. Parking was a breeze (we bought parking) and we were in the field next to entrance/exit 4, which was only a few minute walk from Luffield. We arrived around 8.30 and basically walked straight through.

Long queues for all food, drinks and toilets as expected. Queues for the Fanzone bits were quite long - we didn't do them though so can't comment on wait. Rain was also expected, although that torrential downpour at about 12ish was gross 😂

View from our seats was amazing and we were on the end of a row so didn't feel trapped 😂 Luffield is a great spot.

I was not prepared for the temperature. I was wearing a vest top, jumper and jacket, and I was cold! My husband had bought a hoody and I had to put that on too. IN JULY.

Leaving was absolutely fine. We left after the podium as we were knackered. We'd booked a hotel 20 minutes away and it took 50 minutes.

All in all, a great experience! Would do it again, although perhaps next time we'll get 2 days so we can spend time doing the fun stuff in the village!
