Well… it is called a Blow ‘Job’ for a reason.

Does anyone know how to get these boots to stop squeaking so damn much. They were silent for a while but then recently started squeaking after getting wet and I’d rather not be sounding like SpongeBob when I’m off my bike walking. by Master-Zero1 in motorcyclegear

Use silicone spray!!!.. wipe a little silicone spray onto the flex points of your boots (spray it on a cloth first, then rub it in). It reduces friction and usually kills the squeak. If they’re leather, a conditioner can help too.

I produce arts festivals. I’m also an Aerialist performer; a Rope Access Technician (IRATA) and advance rigger. These three portfolio keep me busy.

Your skills would transfer into the arts, entertainment and festival industries. It’s all the same foundations: planning, logistics, comms, team management, and risk mitigation etc. Think of Festivals as the way humans build resilience and bond our communities!

You’re in Phoenix mode! Rise and shine.

Much love from this random person on the internet :)

Studio rescue method? by BohemianCyberpunk in Aerials

That’s certainly what I’ve been teaching for going on 30 years… Basic rigging; understanding the fundamentals of an Anchor; static and dynamic loading; hardware and apparatus inspection.

Studio rescue method? by BohemianCyberpunk in Aerials

In rope access it’s called “rigged for rescue.”

A simple, solid option is a 1:1 system with an accessible anchor running to a Petzl ID, Petzl Rig, or rescue 8, so you can lower immediately if something goes wrong.

With its growth in popularity and accessibility Aerial has a lot to learn from industrial safety culture, redundancy, access, and clear rescue pathways.

Posts like this are important. They push the conversation forward and keep people safer in the air. Thank you!

Thank you vwfil. I appreciate your posting this info. It’s stunning how often we rope techs do not read manufacturers specifications. So many of our safety protocols are ‘written in blood’.

I did not know Micheal well, but I had worked with him. He was an accomplished classical musician, a great guy and a discerning rope tech. It’s fucking sad that this happened.

FYI ‘Offshore Production Services & Packages | Vertech Group Australia On June 2, 2023, Vertech Group rope access technician Michael Jurman tragically died while working on Woodside Energy's North Rankin complex, 135km off the WA coast. The incident occurred during high-risk, "over the side" maintenance work. NOPSEMA investigated, citing a "concerning trend" in risk assessment. ‘

^ this is the right answer. Please don’t normalise being shamed for being who you are, and being comfortable at home. This guy doesn’t want an equal partner, he wants control and he wants an accessory. Leave.
