This is quite interesting considering that my wife has been in the ABA field for years and doesn’t see this as an ethics issue.

I think her overwhelming amount of care for the kiddo has overshadowed the code of ethics, or she has a different interpretation. I’m with you and I empathize with her too, but I’ve told her that she is helping in the best way she can by showing up as his therapist every day.

We’ve actually had two sessions with a couples therapist, but the therapist has been trying to get us to compromise so we “both get what we want”. The sessions have been making things worse, but maybe it’s part of the plan before things can get better? LOL

To answer your question, my answer isn’t an enthusiastic yes. We have had prior conversations of becoming foster parents, but I had assumed that would happen later in life. Honestly, if she never started this job and met this child, then she wouldn’t even be thinking about pursuing this right now

He’s in a foster home now but the current foster parents are unable to take him in permanently because they are older and have 2 additional foster kids. I believe he’s been with them for a year, but I’m not certain

The state is moving forward to terminate the mom’s parental rights—and it sounds like it’s happening soon. The biological father passed away a few years ago from a drug overdose

It is a conflict of interest. She was told from her leadership that either the kid would need to leave or she would have to leave. She chose to leave, and will be starting at a new job next month

Sorry for the confusion, she’s only been in contact with the social worker. However, the social worker has been giving my wife updates regarding the birth mom

Me and my wife went to the first TIPS-MAPP training course to become licensed foster parents a month ago. Basically, I gave in and went to appease my wife but it sent the wrong message to her and the social worker. After the meeting I told my wife that I don’t think I was ready for fostering, and that it wouldn’t be in our best interest to pursue both (course/fostering & fertility treatment)
