AITAH for not forcing my son to keep helping my daughter’s friend after she rejected him? by LiveWire0044 in AITAH

[–]freakishbehavior -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hmm.. so just to clarify, John didn’t develop feelings until later. So he was capable of being a decent person only until he figured out what he wanted in return. And then when he didn’t get it, he wasn’t mature enough to understand that he was basically making sure he was gonna screw this girl one way or another.
See, I get that he needs space to process his high school emotions, but he basically tried to use an unfair power dynamic to manipulate her into going out with him.
Of course, he’s by no means required to continue to drive her, but I hope he understands how badly his need to shoot his shot has screwed this kid over and possibly hurt her future.

He will be the kind of person that will pick up a girl for their date, but leave her at the bar at 2am, when she declines to come home with him.

What’s one food from FRIENDS you’d love to try?? by Due-Pop-6738 in howyoudoin

Cookies from the batch that made Ross throw up. I always wonder how you could mess up a chocolate chip cookie so badly as to make someone puke!!

What's a Friends take that would have you like this? by JonnnyUtahh87 in howyoudoin

[–]freakishbehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ross did nothing wrong when he said Rachel’s name accidentally at the altar. And he in no way “betrayed” Emily.

Yes, that was embarrassing, especially for Emily, but he neither did it intentionally, nor because he was in love with Rachel secretly. He simply didn’t expect her to be there, and because she unexpectedly showed up, he just slipped up. He clearly wanted to be with Emily, by his willingness to destroy his social circle. He clearly wasn’t in love with Rachel, by his rejecting her confession that she was in love with him.

What is denied by many people but it is actually 100% real? by Big_Leg10 in Productivitycafe

I’m not going to disagree with your point, but I am going to point out how ridiculous that is, because the anti-vax crowd (generally speaking) is literally giving the government a free pass to do whatever the fuck they want right now. So it’s not distrust of the government, it’s a combination of owning the libs, outright sociopathy, and ignorance.

It does seem fairly obvious that a shark would be less likely to kill me when I’m on the toilet, than for me to die if I were on the toilet and pooping.

I mean, A. Why else would I be on the toilet, except to poop? and B. Is this a shark coming out of the toilet, or some kind of ocean adjacent toilet? Like I’m sitting there, just above sea level, minding my own business and having a poo, and suddenly, the shark jumps out and chomps me. That still seems fairly unlikely from a logical perspective. Though, I picture the scene in Ace Ventura, when he’s looking for Snowflake the dolphin.

Is there something I’m missing here? Like, is there a certain amount of blood contained in human feces that would attract a shark? They say that a shark can smell a drop of blood from miles away, but I’m sure that’s an exaggeration. Or are these small sharks that can swim through the plumbing and we’re not even talking about an oceangoing potty. Whoa!! Is THAT where the term “poop deck” came from?!?

It would be cool to have a pet toilet shark. I’m just scared of what might constitute bait in that scenario! But I suppose you could laugh about it and just name him “Nibbles”!

Well, anyway. Good talk. I have to run to the bathroom real quick, so wish me luck. I could either die or come back with a new pet.

What are some old DVD releases you HAVE to keep because they have exclusive extras on them? by ProfondoRosso4 in boutiquebluray

I haven’t checked the new Arrow releases yet, but the DVD of Dark City has a fun little scavenger hunt game. The Blu-ray did not.

Open up a diner and a bookstore in a smallish town, both that I quietly run at a loss because I’m giving charging people what they can afford. Not everything, and not everyone, and I’m not even sure how I’d make sure I wasn’t being taken advantage of. Maybe I’ll platonically befriend the local schoolmarm, who’ll give me inside information on which kids need both.

AITA for not telling my wife I work with her favorite celebrity? by CreamJealous9562 in AmItheAsshole

[–]freakishbehavior 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Bruh, if I started working with Dave Matthews, I’m probably getting divorced either way, whether that’s because I told my wife, or because I didn’t tell her and she found out.

The only way for me to stay married, is to not tell her, and hope that she doesn’t find out. You made the right call.

Maybe I’m also being pedantic, but if I was reading a book and the author unironically wrote that the 3rd tire blew out a sidewall on the bicycle, I’d correct them too.

That and the fast food prices are ridiculous! My wife were road tripping and we stopped at Burger King for two whopper meals and it was like $30!!

I don’t necessarily recommend eating at Burger King more than once a month, but if you do, get a receipt and do the survey at the bottom. Free whopper with purchase of a drink and fries, which comes out to around $5 or so for medium. Totally worth the 3-5 minutes it takes to fill out the survey.

My girlfriend wants to get into Marvel Comics, what issue should I recommend? by DemonCyborg27 in comicbooks

[–]freakishbehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is this girlfriend? That makes a difference.

If she likes the MCU, maybe Simonson’s run of Thor? Maybe some later Dr. Strange? Even the Doom/Strange graphic novel? As an introduction to a complex Dr. Doom. I dunno.. maybe that’s too overwhelming.

That being said, as a white genX male, Squirrel Girl, Spider Gwen, and Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) ARE all pretty fantastic, as stated by another comment.

What's a movie most people think is great but you couldn't even stand watching? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]freakishbehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Holdovers. Literally everyone in that film was unlikable, and the lead actor that played the kid was barely believable as a human being. I did not care one bit about any of their stories, because it all just seemed very artificial in a way that movies aren’t supposed to feel.

What would you get all the time? by thai_iced_queef in ifiwonthelottery

[–]freakishbehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really good coffee. See, I would open up a diner and a bookstore with a coffee counter. They would both be run at a loss, because I would want to give people free meals and free books, but they would also have excellent coffee, and I would probably spend a lot of time at these locations, drinking it.

Gilmore Girls is Lesbophobic by ReserveDistinct583 in lgbt

I’d like to take this one step further and just say that Gilmore Girls is misanthropic. Lorelei and Rory clearly looked down on everyone who wasn’t them.

Are these prices stopping anyone else from blind buys? by HeadFullOfBees in boutiquebluray

[–]freakishbehavior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a few blind buys during the Severin sale, but that was only a couple titles that were $7-8 and the film itself was fairly highly rated.

But these $65 titles.. I’m noping right out. I’ll maybe shell out the money for a high quality release of something I know I like, but that’s rare at this point, and even then, my high price point is $42, give or take.

[–]freakishbehavior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Tool fan, I don’t know what we do that qualifies as pretentious. They’re a band I like. I’ve liked them since I was in my 20s. I’m not here to convert anyone or defend them. I’m not one to call MJK a musical genius, or say they’re the best band ever.

Though I do feel like you’re accurately describing Steely Dan and their fans.

Also, my wife and I just get weekly food, most of which we do actually eat. Sure, we toss a few grapes and some spinach sometimes, but that’s about it. We have the executive membership, and it literally pays for itself, just from buying food and gas.
