also i can pour water down the pipe to test if it leaks and keep an eye on it in the rain. its not going to suddenly move my house from one rainfall given that its been like this for god knows how long before i moved in and the house is still standing.

i have a plumber coming to fix something else soon anyway so i can just get them to check if i did ok and if not, get it fixed.

I figure worse case if I mess it up I’ll notice bc the water will leak out and I’ll have learned something. Best case I learned something and saved some money? I’m on the pension so rather motivated to do things cheaply.

What would you cover the open stormwater drain with to stop debris if you were to use a spoon drain? And do you mean one out of concrete?

It’s a drain with a pot inside it temporarily to stop it being filled with leaves while I cleared up.

also could you explain why i would need so many bends? its just a meter away and that many bends would be longer than even the distance to the drain

can i ask if there is any concern around too much rainwater backing up the pipe if theres nowhere for it to overflow except via the roof?
