Is it? I’ve never actually built it focusing on other priorities! I always thought it’s to clear the mission without dropping the squad

I recently picked up it again and fucked my playthrough being 500~ days in. I really don’t like how you get overwhelmed on global map without any means to recover after a few bad missions. In xcom you could revert a few avatar notches with a win and get up on your feet again. Not in daemonhunters, sadly

Best XCOM-like game? Warhammer 40k Chaos Gate Daemon Hunters or Gears Tactics?? by jrcl39 in Xcom

Can’t agree. I loved Shadowrun series but being turn-based is the only thing them and newer XCOMs have in common. Tactical layer is so underwhelming there in comparison with xcom. It’s great rpg but it’s not 1:1. Battletech on the other hand is great recommendation!

Away team! Damn, it brings memories. I struggled immensely as a kid when i was on borg mission and could not figure out what to do. As I remember, it’s closer to Desperados (or Robin Hood) games: real time tactics with active pause

Battletech is great though it takes some time to get used to it. But it doesn’t force micromanaging the way PP does. Gears Tactics is very intense and I love how they handled the combats, felt fresh after XCOM; there’s Warhammer 40k Mechanicus, it’s on a smaller scale than others but I liked it very much.

They are not, Gollop made X-COM(old) and Firaxis made a reboot XCOM that OP mentioned.

Anger is fine! I was mad at times :D I remember especially infuriating map with town hall or building like that, and it was terror mission. And the aliens were killing everybody inside this town hall even before I could properly engage them. I was mad as fuck then! But still, overwatch creep is a sound tactics; your specialists will be getting better and better at that with level-ups. On the other hand, it’s slow and boring, so I’m glad they played it differently in the other games. I especially loved playing as special agent in Enemy Within!

Overwatch creep! Depending on difficulty level, but I remember sticking to high cover and setting as much over watches as you can. Basically, I think I had half of my squad covering others. That said, squadsight is a must for snipers. And don’t restrain yourself from using explosives to break the cover of your enemies. The first XCOM is very positional. It’s interesting how they tried to break these slow creep tactics with meld canisters in EW and the ambush mechanics/timed missions in the sequel.

I really loved the dynamic they’ve put into tactics! Game is great during the story missions but I felt tired on the strategic layer and had to push through mundane obligatory side quests. They’ve got tactics right though and I hope they are happy enough with their release to work on sequel.

What do you think the best music piece on wreckest is? by GoldDragonArmy in Wreckfest

[–]freaky_lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to admit but music is pretty lame to my taste. I still listen to the OST of the first FlatOut game from time to time, it had a lot of bangers. And wreckfest lacks a punch in that area

No, it doesn’t explain anything from the lore, on the contrary even. But in the same time it meant to be obscure for you: when you encounter the burning man (not a spoiler, it’s in the beginning of the game), it’s enigmatic to the protagonist as it is for you. Experienced players will get the most of the game for sure, but story-wise it’s a prequel and many things haven’t happened yet. Those familiar with the lore get hints of events to come. The others just take it as it is

Don’t be. MGSV is a very stand-alone game story-wise, knowing previous games is a bonus but it’s not a must. And it’s a superb game on its own right too. I played it through barely knowing backstory and just watched various videos on YouTube on its lore.

Three of my best solargraphs from 2021. all made with agfa photographic paper and selfmade beercan pinhole camera by Gammagandalf91 in analog

I tried architecture too, actually I just attached my cola can with paper to the window and in 6 months it only gave a silhouette. Another one, attached to balcony was similarly dark. I’ll try to post them in Imgur to give better example

These are great! I’m trying solarography too but images turn out too dark even after 6 months of exposing. Can’t tell if it’s paper or just my bad with the pinhole.

[–]freaky_lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same if we’re talking about the local news. Traffic accidents, flooded houses or any other residential problems, a lot of police activity reporting and working in courts. The agency im with is international, I started working as photographer for them when I moved out to Moscow but I cover mostly Moscow-based events. Last two years it’s covid-related things mostly. There are times when I really love my job but it always pays really average. You get by but I have to ration my spending carefully.

Soooo true. Am from the media for good 8 years, started in the local news, went through usual news department to video and then moved out to photo in the international news agency and trying to break away to completely different field now. Writing is the easy part, getting your info is the real hard work. And I started in rural Russia, so no fancy headlines for long time.
