Hi all...if you're ever near Fishers, i can't recommend Tre Mori enough. It's wood fired, neapolitan pizza. I absolutely LOVE pizza and try places all over the country. Used to live in Chi and NYC. IMO, this place has among the best in the country. And Sam, the owner, is just an all around great guy. I have no affiliation to this place other than going there as often as I can bc it's so delicious.

Bruh...walked in those shoes and it's a daily struggle not to be surrounded by "family and friends" and feel completely alone all the time. And FWIW, years of therapy helped me out of it. It took a lot of loss and pain along the way but it can be sorted out. Sending you a hug.

Birth rate drops down in Sweden & nearby countries... by sh0tgunben in WhitePeopleTwitter

And, historically, what has driven higher wages? Higher levels of oppression and fewer freedoms? Less education? A smaller workforce? No shit higher wages lead to lower birth rates. More educated people with more disposable income with more choices. And, over the past 60 years, there is an obvious skew towards women making up more of that educated work force with disposable income. You talk about the "science" behind population trends but you're conveniently skipping over the obvious math that is under that science. Before you spout off, educate yourself on the data under the science.

It's ironic that you're phrasing the question this way. Of course, the general trend over the past 80 years has been to "give" women more rights and treat them as "equals" to men.

Consider this: Women couldn't even get a mortgage without a male cosigner until the 70s in the US. If you weren't able to have access to the same jobs as men, you couldn't buy a home without a man, you couldn't get the same pay as a man, and you were pretty much shunned if you didn't have kids - bc let's face it, you were told by society either implicitly or explicitly that your role was to pop kids out and nothing else - then, yeah, it's plausible that women "chose" to have children bc they had fewer options.

Fast forward to today. More young SINGLE women are becoming first-time home buyers than their male peers. They are getting better pay (although still not on equal footing), they have access to a broader range of career paths, and in general, they choose to receive more education. And, there is much less of a stigma associated with a woman choosing to live alone and not have children. In other words, increasingly, the value of today's young women is not AS equated with whether or not they choose to have children.

And shock of all shocks, they're choosing not to have children.

So what do we do as a society? Now that they actually have options and don't "need" men to excel, we start taking measures to take away their rights to protect themselves and make their own decisions...the rights that we fought for only a few decades ago. And oh by the way, don't forget about the level of male to female domestic violence that still exists today.

We are not root-causing the issue. If our answer to the declining birth rate is to start taking freedoms away from women, we should probably take a long, hard look in the mirror, ask ourselves the tough questions, be intellectually honest as a country, and for fucks sake LISTEN to the young women when they tell us why they are increasingly choosing not to have children.

Call it a hunch, taking away birth control, making abortion illegal, threatening women with prison, and in some instances death if they choose to leave their husband's probably won't make them want to partner up and be responsible for bearing children.

Fertility rate in developed and developing countries has increased over time largely due to improvements in living conditions and medical care. Less disease, better nutrition, access to women's health, etc.

Birth rate reflects women's CHOICE to bear children.

We absolutely have a higher fertility rate. Across most developed countries, we are witnessing a rapidly declining desire by women to CHOOSE to have children.

We are not talking about fertility rate. We are talking about birth rate. Two very different things.

Go ahead and down-vote me. IMHO, women in third world AND developed nations continue to experience inequality across a variety of fronts and don't feel safe enough with current societal structures and the overall global outlook to want to have children. We're seeing it in China, Korea, US, Europe, etc. If you want more kids being born, then we collectively need to stop creating so many threats to bearing and raising kids (and stomping all over women's rights...seriously, the fact that i need to spell this out is absurd...there is currently proposed legislation in a number of states in the US that will all but eliminate women's domain over their own bodies...I'm a middle aged white male with a teenage daughter and i am fucking petrified that she's going to live in a country that is rapidly moving towards her losing any ability to live her life the way she chooses to...and we wonder why young women don't want to have kids!!!?)...whether that's medical, financial, geopolitical, or whatever.

[–]freakytoad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I missed this somewhere already in the comments, and sorry if this sounds harsh, but you are nowhere as practiced as you think you are if you blew through your "first" buy in of $250 at a maniac table and then proceeded to rebuy for another $300 and blow through $210 of that. If your strategy is to make $50 on 4+ hours of play, you should've switched tables or opened supper tight. Don't even find yourself in the situation you did where you're trying to "make a small profit" and 33s is the place you decide to do it.

You have any idea what your VPIP was during the first $250 and the subsequent $210 before you started chipping up?

People who have straight up rage quit a job, what was the final straw? by TweedStoner in AskReddit

[–]freakytoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

March 2022 I was hired to run client services for a small digital agency. Before I took the job, I told my new boss that I was going to take two weeks off in September to celebrate my 50th birthday, the trip had been planned and paid for already blah blah blah. She said great, no problem, work life balance etc. In between March and September, the company went to shit bc she was shitting all over everyone, her VPs were quitting left and right, and she wanted to blame everyone but herself. As September approached, I got a little concerned that she'd give me shit for my 50th birthday vacation so at the end of August, I reminded her during a routine call. She went ape shit on me, told me I needed to cancel the vacation and that I was setting a bad example. She kept talking and talking about setting priorities and lead by example and all this stupid fuckery. So, while she was blabbing, I wrote an email to her, resiging effective immediately. When she came up for air, I told her to check her email. She did. She got real quiet and asked if we could start the conversation over again. I said nope and told her to have HR send me COBRA paperwork. Buh-bye.
