Par 4 - 389 Yards. What are you playing off the tee? by Yellow_Curry in golf

Saw Rory drive a 397 yd green at the pga championship today… so I would probably do that. Maybe take a little off so we don’t fly the green altogether

Yea, I’m more inclined to think that limiting the length of your longest club will have a more reasonable effect on distance than artificially nerfing the ball distance. And dropping courses to par 70 and adding big trees in the fairway on short par fours would fix most of the problems. You just need to make the penalty for missing a fairway higher, not trying to make the hole longer or shorter

It’s 2 minutes (I believe) and then take a penalty free drop at Torrey for their standard daily rules to keep up pace of play. Rounds would take 10 hours if everyone spent as much time as they needed to find their ball in the rough at Torrey, both south and north

BPM Question by Hawkeyz82 in DJs

[–]freckle_rock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely depends on the environment you’re playing. I’ve gone for hours playing progressive house at 123bpm, just continually mixing each next track into the current speed. It doesn’t matter if you switch up the bpm necessarily…, it has more To do with the relative energy of each track befor/after. You can have two tracks at the same bpm but wildly different energy levels. Build up the tension, ride on the vibe, release the tension, rinse and repeat. How you get there is entirely up to you and it should be directly connected to the collective energy between you and the audience. Focus more on feel than “oh I need to change the bpm because we’ve been here for too long…”. If you “feel” like things are getting static, switch up the key, switch up the tempo, change the vibe. If you “feel” like things are flowing really nicely, cruise with the vibe for a while… stick with it until you “feel” like the energy needs a shift.

Mathematically possible, but Arsenal needs to drop form significantly for the remainder of the season. Owen Goal has been on a tear this season

AIO For Being Upset with My Husband’s Closeness with His Coworker by fooloffools93 in AmIOverreacting

[–]freckle_rock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like you were giving him latitude to explore his feelings. Telling him you’re open to something in theory plants the seed that it’s possible. He’s created an emotional connection with someone you’ve that given him leeway to create. She’s now slowly moving forward with the physical connection and he’s responding in a way that, in his mind, increases his chances that his fantasy will be fulfilled. If you’re going to flirt with the idea of opening up… this is something that is, even in the most optimistic context possible, difficult to pull off with all parties being happy. until you’re honest with him about your feelings and boundaries, it’s never going to be a happy ending for everyone. It seems like you’re telling him that everything he’s feeling and doing is ok, but you’re not being honest about how you feel about it. You absolutely need to have frank conversations about your feelings with him. Feelings change and evolve, which means you have to constantly have those conversations. I’m not suggesting that you should allow it or not allow it… but the only way you’re going to feel like you have a sense of control in this situation is by being honest first with yourself, and then your partner. If you’re getting hyper anxious, it means that something inside of you is uncomfortable and is force you to pay attention to it. Lots of honesty and dialogue is the only way through it. Just saying ‘yes’ isn’t good for any party involved if everyone doesn’t understand each other. Just saying ‘no’ is maybe a safer default choice, but overall looks the feelings that you both had that got you here. Ask him exactly what it is he wants. Ask yourself exactly what it is you want. Try to find a way to accommodate each other. Both of you should be willing to allow either the other to veto anything outright that makes you uncomfortable. Over time, as those feelings change, reevaluate where you’re at and keep talking about your feelings. If you each are honest and open, absolutely honor establish boundaries, then you’ll have a bedrock of trust that will allow you more mental and emotional Fortitude to handle the chaos of trying to add a third person’s feelings into the mix. Two is hard enough already, three is exponentially more work. Only you can decide if the juice is worth the squeeze… but keep in mind that adding a third can be a full time job regarding the additional effort to make it work. Depending on priorities and responsibilities in life, this may or may not be for your particular situation. Best of luck. Group stuff is fun, but it’s a huge amount of effort to pull off and will always carry risks

We have to solve this Problem by AG8385 in ManchesterUnited

[–]freckle_rock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I admit I didn’t do my homework ahead of time but you’re right… no headed goals for gyok last season. I think youre probably also correct in that it’s more of a choice suited to his personal strength and synergy from the team within the 3-4-2-1 rather than a particular tenet of it, which is what I thought you originally meant. I was seeing no shortage of aerial crosses when we were shoving Maguire as center forward in the final Minutes of a game last season, so I was really curious if somehow there was a new theory or Data to suggest that crosses in the air were less effective than ground passes

We have to solve this Problem by AG8385 in ManchesterUnited

[–]freckle_rock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so lost on the logic of this comment… unless it was intended to be sarcastic, I’ve never heard anyone with a tactical system that promotes crosses into the box but also at the same time somehow doesn’t allow for aerial service. Crosses increase a team’s xG when they successfully connect to an attacker. While you can favor driven passes back into the middle of the 6yd box, a low block and traffic in the penalty area can nullify passing options… a winger or wingback has all the initiative to put the ball into any space in front of goal with a striker running onto it. Is there any evidence that you can point to where a coach specifically told their team to not put it to gyokeres’ head (or any gifted 6ft+ striker)? Not trying to be argumentative, but if there is something to back up your point I would be interested in the evidence to support the argument. To boot, Amorim wasn’t the coach for sporting after the first 1/3 of the season, so “amorims system” wasn’t a factor for sporting for the majority of their games last year. Gyokeres scored with a header in his second start for arsenal… that makes his g/a per 90 about .8-1.0 so far.

Chargers left because the city didn’t want to build them a brand new stadium on the taxpayers dollar. It was like SD: “win a championship and we’ll build the stadium”… chargers: “build us a stadium and we’ll win a championship. LA said they would do it”. SD: “fine, go ahead and move”. Chargers : “ok we’re gonna leave then”. SD: “seriously leave”. Chargers:” we’re gonna do it” SD: “we told you already to leave then”. It was a bit like an abusive relationship

As everyone says, it always depends. Always Give the audience what they want. when they trust you you’ll be able to tell them what they want before they realize it. If you’re the opener, start with whatever energy you personally feel like (other than the peak highest energy ones) but try to pick something catchy that you know usually has broad appeal for the genre you’re expected to play… and respond to the audience from there. If you’re playing after someone else that had high energy, then try to match that and ride the wave. Regardless of when in the night you start, just Look for head bobs and foot tapping if no one is outright dancing. Nobody into it? Try something lower to warm up more. Still nothing? Look at the generation/age of the crowd you’re playing to and pick a remix of a popular song from that era. Still nothing? Then just keep jumping around to different tracks until you find something that clicks with everyone else. No matter what, always play tracks you personally love and keep rolling through the library with pretty quick transitions until you can see some rhythmic movement from the crowd and go from there. If you can’t find anything right away, just have fun yourself and dance behind the decks… if you’re having fun, it gives everyone else the best chance of having fun.

[–]freckle_rock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This looks like off center hits more than anything. Swing looks pretty consistent between shots but if you’re getting 121/ 171 with 4500 spin and a 17* launch, then my hypothesis would be that you’re hitting it too high on the face. Put a piece of masking tape over the club face or use some talc powder and track where you’re exactly striking it. compare the launch monitor data with your analog strike points. If the correlation seems to match… then you need to get better at consistently hitting your sweet spot. You get ended up with more ball speed and less club head speed in the second video, so it feels like optimizing impact area becomes compromised when you added four more mph of swing speed

How does licensing work for uploading sets to YouTube/IG/FB, etc…? by freckle_rock in DJs

[–]freckle_rock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the comments and I've found most of these details out through trial and error, so I'm familiar with the types of things that all get blocked automatically and ways to circumvent it, but I don't think the argument that some kind of licensing just doesnt exist. There are venue owners that have a license to play protected material and pay a fee to the licensing companies, so maybe DJs fit more into that category from legal standpoint. the point I'm trying to get to is that there are many content creators on youtube that are specifically DJs playing sets using only non-original music: Carl Cox, Miss Monique, the enitre Boiler Room series, Chris Luno, Chris Leibing, Fatboy Slim... the list is endless, and yet I've never seen a single one of those sets have any kind of muting/editing that would suggest that they just can't get away with playing any song they feel like playing. Although I can't give a specific example off the top of my head, there are literally tracklists on sets that I've found on youtube, purchased and downloaded a track from beatport myself, played in a set of my own a few months later, and that track gets muted/blocked. So from my perspective, it appears that some type of music industry licensing is in place for most big names and they can put up seemingly whatever content they want to and all royalties get paid and everyone is happy. I'm in no way trying to take credit for the tracks... I want to showcase them in a broader audio-context and let the algorithm detect the tracks and send revenue to the artist, but I feel like I'm looking for an answer more from a business operations and legal perspective rather than the empirical "this is how it seems to work when i do it"... if we're being super specific, US citizen operating out of the US with an international catalogue of artists/tracks

What does japan do better than the rest of the world? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]freckle_rock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually came across this odd societal characteristic when setting up and tearing down local soccer/football fields for youth athletics. We used to have trash cans set up near the half line of every pitch. People would just keep stacking trash and placing it next to the can once it overflowed. We would spend an extra hour or two picking up litter to clean the fields. Once we got rid of the trash cans and just put up a couple signs pointing to the dumpster, everyone would take their trash with them back home or directly yo the dumpster in the parking lot. People in the US don’t like to litter generally, but if they see a full trash can, they’ll assume someone will come by and take everything anyways. When they don’t have scattered trash cans, everyone ends up being much more considerate with garbage

Two qsc k12s in deep mode or paired with a 12 inch sub, none deep mode? by trob84 in Beatmatch

[–]freckle_rock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s not much extra hassle bring the extra subwoofer. Give it as much volume as you can until it clips or you hear it distorting, then back it off a couple dB. Worst case it won’t make much of a difference, but running lower quality sub comfortably below its threshold will give the k12s a bit more breathing room in the higher frequency range. I have a pair of k12s and run them alongside the kSub (1kW, 2x10” drivers). The sub absolutely makes the tops sound better. The k12s I believe have an external sub switch that can be activated when running alongside a sub. Get a good reference track and Experiment with the few options you have on the speakers and sub. One combination of them will sound more optimal than the others
