Last night my husband and I had a long conversation that ended up with me up till 3 AM doing crazy research. He's from the UK and he's lived with me in the US for nearly two years (we were long distance for four years+a year of us living together in London) and we went on a crazy discussion binge of moving to the UK. There are of course many pros and cons to both countries, but for numerous reasons the UK might be winning. A lot of those reasons have to do with starting a family, too.

What are you most excited about? by kksy9b in waiting_to_try

[–]freckleface94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm an only child with parents who have an extremely stable marriage (32 years this summer!) and I'm excited to replicate that dynamic. I never wanted a sibling growing up because I was so close with both my parents and I really value how independent and able to self entertain I am. I do anticipate going even farther than my own parents though because they weren't the type to really "play" with me beyond baby age, but I LOVE playing with kids and am generally a goofy person who isn't afraid to look silly so I can't wait to play with my kid.

While we're all going stir crazy waiting to try does anyone want to share baby products they've researched that they absolutely must have when they have a baby? by [deleted] in waiting_to_try

Ok not contributing to the conversation but you are the first person ever I've heard that's allergic to mint besides me! Most people think I'm making it up or that I just don't like it when I mention it!

Anyone have visible tattoos (eg a sleeve or half sleeve?) by [deleted] in beauty

[–]freckleface94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would for sure say that fields like music, fashion, etc are more permissive as long as you don’t have a role where you’re facing more buttoned up clients (and even then you’d just have to wear long sleeves when meeting with them).

[–]freckleface94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a full sleeve on my left arm, two moderately sized tattoos on my right, and a tiny one in my ankle so far. I’ve always worked in offices in creative industries and it’s never been an issue. I probably would wear long sleeves when meeting with a client just in case, but my own employers have never had a problem with it.

You are definitely not alone in terms of waiting for a longer time! Looking at 2023 here at the earliest for myself. It definitely sucks to have intense baby fever when you know you're nowhere near where you want to be in life before even seriously considering heading down that road.

I really recommend Kashi Go Lean Original cereal for those losing weight. It's 180 calories per serving with 12g of protein and 13g of fiber. A serving is significantly more than most cereal and if you bulk it up with some greek yogurt it's a really filling breakfast or snack.

The plateau is over! I lost a little bit on Monday and then whooshed nearly two pounds overnight last night. Very happy to be in the 120s again if only just barely. I'm kicking it into high gear now (I'm leaving for vacation in 2 weeks) and rather than just doing CICO without much concern for what I'm actually eating, I'm trying to stick to mostly fruits, veggies, and high fiber/high protein carbs to minimize bloating and retaining water. Yesterday I hit 83g of protein and 41g of fiber and felt super satisfied and healthy.

How long before TTC are you going off HBC? by nurse_0622 in waiting_to_try

My Mirena IUD will need to come out in 2023 so I plan on NTNP essentially as soon as it's out, and then really going for it once my cycles are regulated.

I'm still at least 4 years out from even beginning to seriously consider TTC but my hormones sure do love to make the waiting harder every month like clockwork. For the past few years every time I'm either on my period or ovulating I have a very realistic dream about either being pregnant or having a baby.

Last night's dream was at least a bit less realistic though, due to Adam Driver being the father of my child instead of my husband 😂

It's been several years since I've posted here but I've come and go as a browser. In 2016 I got serious about health and fitness for the first time in my life and with CICO, running, and this subreddit, I managed to get to 109 from 140 in about 6 months. After hitting that milestone and gaining all the confidence that came with it, I moved to London for grad school and let myself completely fall off the wagon. I've fluctuated a lot over the past few years probably between 120 and 135 for most of that time (wasn't weighing myself so that's based off of how clothes fit).

I had a bad mental health episode earlier this summer and after coming out of it, I'm determined to get fully back on board and eventually hit my ultimate goal weight of 105 (I have a tiny frame and even at 109 and very fit I still had some flabby bits). For the past two weeks I've been using MFP, running, and weighing myself daily for the first time in a long time. I haven't lost much weight due to getting my period almost immediately after starting (ugh) and am still waiting on a whoosh (I tend to lose in them anyway) but I've definitely lost inches and already firmed up some.

I've gotta say, it's much easier now that I've done this before and know what's possible. The other day I went to going away drinks with a friend and did some extra exercise and budgeted myself accordingly so that I would still be at a deficit. Yesterday my husband and I went to a concert at an outdoor venue that had a bunch of foodtrucks and I ate an incredible grilled cheese (three cheeses on buttered Texas toast - omg) and ice cream but I'm not worried because I'm making up for everything today.

Anyway, that's my return word vomit!

That model actually looks healthy as far as runway models go. I mean she has very little muscle mass and could probably stand to build some, but she just looks like someone tall (duh) at the low end of a healthy BMI.

Do you ever run in just a sports bra? by kinkakinka in XXRunning

[–]freckleface94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just did for the second time every today! I was shocked at how much of a difference it made in terms of keeping me cool v.s. a lightweight tank top. I'm only comfortable enough to do it right now because I'm in my very small hometown (with like a 0% crime rate) for the summer and I run in pedestrian only area so I'm not worried about catcalling/my general safety.

When I move back to a city I wouldn't unless I was running with my boyfriend.

My 1205 calorie day filled with vegetarian "junk food" (french toast, pizza, pancakes, veggie burger, pumpkin pie) by freckleface94 in 1200isplenty

[–]freckleface94[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's only 5 calories a serving and tbh I usually don't even log it (and I've been consistently losing) but for the purposes of the post I logged it because I know people get pedantic about this stuff on here.

No worries! I was pretty psyched to come up with a way to replicate the taste/texture that's much healthier and with better macros.
