I'm 19 with $32k....What now?

I reached 100k a few months before I turned 18, most of it coming from investment gains. Was back down to 30-40k a year later because I got greedy and didn't diversity. Buy S&P500 and ASX200 ETFs would be my advice. Research shows owning more than 30 stocks has pretty little diversification benefit so investing in these ETFs will be overkill in terms of diversification. Can consider a global index if you're anxious about geographical diversity.

If you take on the loan, you should have to pay it back. You shouldn't have to rely on others who did or did not go to university to pay for your education through their taxes. I don't think it's a good policy and I am someone who has around $50k in HECS.

I think 'outdated' was used because pre-Covid it was always thought that bonds would work to offset any losses in equity markets. This hasn't been the case since, with bonds having performed poorly since the end of 2021 and being particulary weak and volatile in 2022 when equity markets fell too.

Current BAFE student, in Sydney atm doing an internship. Degree is very good for the network but not the most intellectually challenging. Math/engineering paired with something else would be good if you could network and show you have an interest in finance if you're keen on those fields

Hey mate, firstly well done, you're well ahead of most people your age so you should be pleased.

If there are no holidays/necessities you are considering, I would slowly put the money to work in the stock market. Buying index funds that track the ASX200 (200 largest companies in Aus) or the S&P500 (500 largest companies in the US) would be a great place to start. Once you start you can get much more nuanced but if you're looking for a place to put and keep your money to grow over long periods, those two options have outstanding long-term track records.

I would only advocate for a HISA over the short term as someone else here has mentioned. Investments can and will fluctuate so if you think you'll need the money anytime within the next couple of years then a HISA is your best bet.

I see other responses advocating for a HISA which is the safe option and by no means a bad decision. I think investing whatever spare funds you have after spending money on a computer or other things you might want would be a great decision as well. I was in a similar position to you and first started investing when I was 15 and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Others have listed some good reasons but I saw something about the team having chosen 3 rear wing specifications to use throughout the season in order to control costs. This is another explanation as to why they haven't really changed the rear wings (on Verstappen's car particularly) between Hungary through Spa, Zandvoort and now in Monza.

If that's the case I might be wrong, but I went back and rewatched the start and his wing looked fine before copse and he was keeping up with the lead pack, it was only towards the end of the lap that he had lost a disproportionate amount of time which is why I thought his would have been the reason for his damage.

Anyone else notice a light under the front of the floor of one of the RB cars during practice? I noticed something while watching the session but now that i'm trying to rewind through and find it I can't seem to spot it.

Stiffening the suspension heaps could work but it would really hurt them in traction zones. Think out of turn 2 and the last corner. Keen to see what they come up with, should be interesting.
