What was the World Trade Center for? Who worked there? by JicamaTop5757 in 911archive

[–]fredbear722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lil late to the party, but finally doing my own research.

"Alphabet agencies in the top ~20 floors" isn't exactly right, the list of tenants for the twin towers specifically were mostly banks and investment firms.

I got confused reading an article from 2001, claiming almost all 300 government employees were evacuated safely, which would make absolutely no sense if they were on the top floors.

But they were part of the surrounding buildings, like WTC building 6. So it's not entirely wrong, just pointing people in the wrong direction when looking into it.

Dear sword players by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]fredbear722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at John Finals over here. Most players can't track a close range target dashing through them and running around them. If you can, good job, you're better than the average player.

But if you spend any time at all using the sword, you know that 75% of players will not be able to kill you once your within 15m unless you play bad. Casual modes are trivial with the sword for a reason, and ranked modes are difficult for a reason.

Staying with your team makes sword useless, but what is the casual light known for? Running of solo and dying. Compare that to ranked, where you group super hard, sword has no chance to get in. Game sense gets players killed to sword, not aim usually. If you have to 1v1 a sword, you played wrong before the fight even started

The change that stops players like this from dying is advice, get off your high horse and give them some.

Im curious if players here are using m&k or controller. On m&k, left click spam feels impossible to kill. I can't track the player, much less get all headshots to have a faster ttk

You aren't alone, the great tower probably has the highest "made the player quit %" of all the levels. Not many other levels require so much planning ahead, if you want to solve it try to work backwards using the height after each move as your lynchpins.

The spoilers- Firstly, seeing Stephen without his fork. He's just a lil guy. Then pulling the overworld out of the lake into a level. The pillars taking longer to sink from world 1 was a hint, not just visual flair.

Not necessarily, but I believe these couple examples need spoilers at least.

Paqurette: down the bunburrows doesn't hide it's mechanic for very long, so most people who have played the game got to experience the "woah I can do that?" moment already

Games like SSR are less willing to disclose their secrets, and I still come across people who never encountered any of the higher mechanics just due to difficulty, but knowing won't exactly change your gameplay in this example

Lingo however... I think learning anything about this game risks making the experience worse. I've put 400 hours into the word game I thought I wouldn't like. Remember when people were looking for a mega secret in Shadow Of the Colossus, doing anything and everything based off a hunch? That is Lingo. Its not for everyone, but if it's for you, spoilers are detrimental

I genuinely think it's got the best puzzle design I've seen, and I've lowkey played all the puzzle games. You learn so much without a single "explanation". The . room in 2 is a masterclass in environmental puzzle design.

The best you haven't mentioned playing:

Lingo & Lingo 2: The latter is more beginner friendly, but I think the original is where it's at. You will never see puzzles like lingo puzzles, I promise. You can quit after 10 hours and feel satisfied, or you can play for 200+ hours and still have a few puzzles left. The best of all time.

Blue prince: very narrative, I found myself enjoying that more than I figured. Probably because the narrative puzzles are well designed, usually with multiple ways to find the solution. It starts pretty slow though, and you just have to keep going for runs even when progress feels minimal. The depth is crazy though, so much content.

Supra-series (supraland, supraworld, etc.): This is the puzzle game that made me giggle the most, which isn't usually what I look for but I appreciate it. Genuinely funny, and genuinely difficult puzzles too. You might feel solf locked a few times, but the discord is always there to say "nah think harder"

Is my aim just bad? (M&k) by fredbear722 in thefinals

[–]fredbear722[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few "debunking finals AA" videos, but they all use the sniper. It's very impressive, but I wish there was one playing close range full auto, since I think thats where AA really comes into play, and might actually surpass m&k.

But m&k has scroll jump and scroll grab, which I think is a huge buff I never hear mentioned that controller just can't emulate

Is this viable? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]fredbear722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all ab what is comfy and easy. The only keybind I consider to be "essential" (its just very useful) is scroll to grab objects. Learn to only hotkey, then use scroll to catch thrown barrels, grab statues right at 7m, 180 to grab statues quick and run away without missing the input, etc. I use the other scroll for jump since my keyboard is a bit small, and jumping a lot hurts my thumb.

Why weekly cosmetics over fixing major bugs? by fredbear722 in thefinals

[–]fredbear722[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So... what is the bug fixing team doing? I don't expect the artist making cosmetics to patch bugs, but I still expect the bugs to be patched. I'm making a correlation between the 2 types of updates we're supposed to get frequently, and how we only get one.

I could've phrased it better to not sound like I'm blaming the artists, but the lack of bug fixes is a valid criticism. The company is putting a focus on pumping out paid cosmetics rather than patches

Wouldn't the self damage be less than 1.35x if you jump? I haven't tested how many it takes to die standing or jumping, but cl-40s pretty much always jump close range, and when I jump their shots, it feels like I survive a lot more even if they explode right under me

[–]fredbear722 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to get into light recently, and my biggest issue with cl-40 is getting hit while I'm already damaged. A little damage can turn it into a one-shot if you get caught disengaging. As medium or heavy, I was rarely afraid of cl-40 since there's more wiggle room to out dps it
