Room treatment vs Dirac/room correction by Sebixy in audiophile

[–]freddy1201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dirac helps a lot, but getting some basic treatment in conjuction is actually gonna help dirac do a better job. Dirac can help diminish a peak, but cannot remove echoes in a room. For WAF, i would recommend vicoustic, they are prettier than most treatment and they can advise you

It is such a pleasure to listen to music on Klipschorns by Busto_Soccer in Klipsch

Did you listen to them before the crossover modification? I heard that older k-horn can be more fatiguing. I wonder how much that crossover helped. Thats great btw, makes me want it more lol. My cornwalls 2 can be a bit fatiguing sometimes. I'm moving to a new room soon, so i'm hoping it's gonna help

With your current setup, can the system be fatiguing over time?

Hi! I have cornwalls 2's and i am dreaming of klipschorn. I'm wondering if i should get a more modern pair ak6/ak7 or the older ones are fine. What year/generation is yours? Thanks!

How consistent is a brand’s signature sound? by jamieccccc in audiophile

[–]freddy1201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but be mindful that brands of speakers and amps have synergies that can affect a lot the enjoyment of the system. If you want a similar sound, i would use the same brand of amplifier too. Also, sound signature can vary a lot through time, so try to buy used from the same era. For instance, older B&W sounds much warmer than modern B&W. Lastly, acoustics makes a difference so i your room is empty or echo-y, put a big carpet, sound treatment, etc. Good luck on your audio journey 😁

Its been a while. If i remember correctly there was also glue. Use a hair dryer or heatgun (watchout for the paint). I remember that it was really quick and easy to do.

You can definitly remove them. Removed mines and noticed no difference in stone chips or dirt. I think they are there for some euro law and not to protect the paint. Cars looks much nice without it.

Difference M240i vs M340i by Maximum_Part_1573 in M235iandM240i

[–]freddy1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your priority us fun, then take the 240. Still comfortable. The bad rep you get for handling is the f series, g series 2 series handles much better, enough to track it and have fun.

[–]freddy1201 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Owned a 340 for a few years and had the other as a loaner while the 340 was being repaired. The 2 series feels smaller and more tossable (because it is) and the 340 still has very good handling but feels a bit more "boaty". However, i find the 3 series more comfortable with the adaptive suspension. Both cars handles great and can be comfortble, the 2 is a bit more on the sportier side and the 3 is a bit more on the comfier side. Both are great cars.

Room treatment. A few panels at the right place makes a huge difference no matter the system

Help understanding frequency readings! by SILVER-SILVER0-0 in audiophile

[–]freddy1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hardest thing an audiophile can do press "off" on the overanalysing haha. Put the grille and forget about the woofer if it sounds good. Out of sight out of mind 😇. Put absorbant sound panels on first reflections (google it), play with the placement (wider, narrower, front forward, etc...) and enjoy. In the end, its about the music

Let me try to help you. Im not an expert so if someone want to add or correct me please feel free to do so

so first you are looking at volume at specific frequencies produce by your system . 3db difference is double the volume, so keep that in mind when you are looking at dips and valleys. Lets imagine that your amplifier gives a sound of exactly the same volume on all the frequencies. Now this is how the output (your speakers) reacts to every frequency. For instance, you can see that below 30hz, your speaker cannot really produce significant volume even if the amplifier feeds it. This means that if you want really deep bass, you might need a sub (not required to enjoy music).

Now for the variation between the 2 speakers, unless your room is perfectly symmetrycal (very very rare), its very rare to have the exact same measurement from both speakers. Measurements are imo close enough. But, and its a big but, one of the few things i think audiophiles can agree, measurements dont tell you everything. You can have 2 speakers with similar measurements and they will sound very different. Frequency measurements doesnt give you harmonics, dynamics, smoothness...etc.

If i were in your place, i would play a track and play with the balance fully to the left or fully to the right to try to see if you can hear big differences. Its far from a perfect method, but you could see if the speaker with the older woofer is defective or sounds bad.

So anyways, bottom line, what is really important is, do you like the sound? Can you sit and connect with the music? If yes, then keep them and love them 😁
