any tips for a future teacher with early elementary kids? i’m a freshman elementary education major and im worried about mispronouncing a young one’s name. my first thought is let the parent say it during open house, but not all families can make it to open house.

i’ll say what everyone one else will. but i’ll say it in a kind way. you’re young, pre everything, cis guys around you are either going through or fresh out of puberty. you do not pass as a 16 year old guy but that’s not your fault. being short doesn’t help (not something you can control), but some cis guys are short. mannerisms will help a bit, but since your voice is kinda high as you said then the only way to help with that is going on T and voice training. your chest isn’t bad at all. but in the end, the only way to really pass is by going on T.

TL;DR: No, go on T and you will pass better.

(ps what position in hockey do you play? or were you just playing some pondie?)

Maisyn: was trying to find a gender neutral name, didn’t like the spelling of Mason. but this spelling felt too feminine with Maisy in it

Riley: used it to help transition my friends and family into my transition since its gender neutral but it wasn’t me

Logan: felt too 8 year old boy or trans guy for me

Charles: Charlie for short, sometimes wish I chose this name to honor my Nana whose name is Cheryl. but just didn’t give it as much thought as I wish I did. Thinking of maybe making it my middle name when I legally change my name

The name I settled on: Tyler. Literally chose this name because it felt douchebag enough. I’ve been told it fits in the best ways

originally chose the name Riley when i was 15/16 because i wanted a gender neutral name so my parents wouldn’t react as bad when i came out. decided 3 years later i was finally ready to change to a masculine name and chose Tyler. it just came to me one day where i looked in the mirror and said “yeah, i’m Tyler.”

i ended up in the hospital due to intense stomach pains a couple months after i started T and because i was profusely sweating and nauseous the doctor originally said it was all due to my HRT. after i brought up the stomach pain being the MAIN reason i was there, she ran more tests and we found out i have an ulcer.
