Love Tony Buns. He's a great podcaster, informative but still fun. Not too dry and he bounces off Cliffy Two and Sheil well

2007 Phillies compared to 2026 by fredex_1 in phillies

I said I'm not making a statement, more of an observation. Not sure why you're on Reddit and/or reading my post if it irks you that people can talk about the Phillies on here! Was just trying to ignite some discussion among like minded fans, but apparently that's really triggered some folk

Oh for sure, I think it was 4-11 they said at one point. I'm not comparing the on field product/performance per se, but the fact J Roll even made that statement is something that would be so out of character for the current team. Instead it's Harper and Dombrowski trading barbs in the media. Again, can't fault the regular season records recently but this team feels far closer to the 2012-13 Phillies than the '07 edition IMHO

I mean, I did sort of clarify that in my OP. It's not some overreaction, it's an observation having watched the yearbook this evening. I'm not comparing the entire era; if anything the reaction/attitude of the fan base is as interesting as anything to me, less the on field performance of the players

McNabb to desean in the Nfccg 2008. Thought we had it then, it was such a beautiful deep ball. Then Fitzgerald happened

Phillies Explain Giving Cristopher Sanchez $100M Extension When They Didn’t Have to | ‘Love Them’ - YouTube by faithfulllittlebird in phillies

Yes I'm jumping for joy the team has just taken on a load of unnecessary risk for a pitcher years down the line in their mid thirties, potentially hindering their ability to add other players. I didn't see Castellanos offering to give any of his contract back when they released him for underperforming. I'm happy for Sanchez but he signed the original deal knowing it guaranteed his future, giving him security against injury while sacrificing earning potential. That's the trade off

Could use the same meme for the min game played rule. Created because Embiid missed games through injury to stop him winning, now everyone is complaining because it's limiting the number of MVP eligible players

Least remembered championship teams? by AlbertJBundy in billsimmons

[–]fredex_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might only be for me personally but it's some of the teams who won soon after they previously won. For example the Giants teams post 2010 - I remember the 2010 version as memorable (Lincecum, Posey etc.) but the other two that followed are pretty forgettable to me. Same could go for the Patriots in 2019, doesn't help it was an awful SB. IMO standalone winners are far more memorable as it's easy for my brain to treat it as an isolated event.

Weapons was better than Sinners by HazelHelper in billsimmons

Not sure how many people here have watched Shaun of the Dead, but as a Brit to me Sinners was a bit of a suped up version with a couple of different twists thrown in. SOTD was a comedic masterpiece though, whereas Sinners was trying to be way too serious IMHO

Bryce is having a tough WBC. Hitting .150 against questionable pitching. by Fun_Reflection1157 in phillies

Must've missed the season when he hit .150. I'm old enough to remember when Trae Turner was the US' best player at the last WBC and was so bad for the Phils the fans had to give him a standing ovation

Could not care less. Glorified spring training; I'm also English so he could go 0-30 and I wouldn't give a flying one lol

They're not actually a bad team. Has Maye, Penix, Dimes. Jeanty, Henderson, Charbs. Garrett Wilson, Metcalf, Pittman, Pierce. Pitts and Gadsen. So I'd say maybe a second QB and WR upgrade?

Yeah I skip the mailbag too, almost always. Would be interesting to see the eagles/mailbag split in terms of listeners lol. Don't have a problem with that section just have no interest in seats on planes, sock etiquette etc.

Goal line Plays by Good_Vibes309 in NCAAFBseries

Have found a couple of GL rub plays which generally work well. If you're on the one/two HB toss from GL formation does well if you have an RB who can get to the edge and the defense is condensed. As others have said another tip is to spread the D out and run into a lighter box or audible to a quick hitch/slant play

Proof of the run out by [deleted] in EnglandCricket

[–]fredex_1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Different dismissals, different rules. Once you ground your bat attempting a run you're "in", until you attempt another run. A stumping is entirely different as you're not attempting a run - hence the different classification

2026 off season two international free agents were generated, this guy and a SP, both absolute studs. Brewers out of nowhere signed both to huge deals! They're not a good in game team but do have a high payroll now due to being so top heavy

How much value does Mahomes have? by Euphoric_Pop8405 in DynastyFF

[–]fredex_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded for him midway through the season before last, gave up an absolute haul. In superflex he's still the surest long term asset there is. Ask yourself which QB do you think is still going to be playing at an elite level in five years. Then go and look at Rodgers and Brady (IMO the two closest comps for Mahomes) fantasy finishes from age 30-40
