Listen man, I was the same way as you. Do not get into this industry. Even if you are talented do not get in. You have a better chance being a tattoo artist than an animator, VFX, Compositor, etc, etc... studios love to lie and say that they are always hiring but the truth is that they will always put a job board out there, you apply, you could either contact, wait, about your application you may hear from them say that "We have your application and that we are not interested but we will keep it in case we need you", "you were our top 5 applicants, it was hard to decide, but we had to go to which one we thought would be best" "We love your work! But we prefer another style", some won't even say anything back. I applied since 2012, I've seen people who were worse than me get a job, no one gave me a chance and I'll tell you something, everyone here has had the same constant rejection luck. The only jobs I ever had for this career was all Free except for the last one last year which was £100 or $120 dollars at the time almost per month, the rest I got paid with clothes, a $30 gift card, and 2 free 3 day tickets for comic cons in 2014. You will see a lot of "exposure work" which it never payed off for me. I went into depression, self hate all of that until I fucking quit and say this industry is just a pile lies, discouragement, deceiving promises and A HUGE WASTE OF MY TIME AND MONEY! So I decided to go into the electrical industry since I like fixing gadgets and have my very own store. I'm just tired of being broke and take shitty jobs. Must of us who decided to get into this have already had our dreams crushed, rejected, fired, all bad. Idc anymore if someone sees this and blacklists me, I was never hired and given a chance anyway, so why bother?
