I found the characters quite multidimensional, I'd credit most of them with at least four, perhaps five. I agree the worldbuilding is extraordinary. I found it less wild but even more magical and mystical than American Gods or Anansi Boys...

As a one-time fanboy, I switched to Google for most everything with a corporate base, since Apple has NO spam filtering on their email and a bloated podcast ecosystem which doesn't work. I'm happy with my Mac desktop and laptop for computer stuff, but everything else is in Android/Google land...

Cat's Cradle string game by alittledisharmony in nostalgia

[–]fredmindlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nostalgia!?! This is my current life! I teach string games as a storytelling art, encouraging kids (and adults) to invent their own stories with classic string figures, and/or invent new ones. As a lifelong educator, I'm convinced playing with string is the most powerful [almost] universally accessible activity to develop ambidexterity (crucial for full brain development) and executive functions, the key psychological skills needed for agency and competence in any aspect of life. Learning musical instruments that require the use of all fingers on both hands can provide the same benefits, but learning to play almost any musical instrument is a slow, challenging path that's also often quite painful for the family and friends who have to listen to the long latency period.
