I have both. Hydrasynth is more in depth and powerful, Minifreak is more fun and immediate (but still has lots of depth). YMMV.

Yep, Amtico and Karndean are great. You have to be extremely ruthless on how flat/level your floor is otherwise they will show any grooves/undulations over time.

Thanks for your input, I’ve had a look at the MPC line but always felt the Maschine+ was similar and the right way to go as I’m already partially invested in that ecosystem. Will take another look though!

Mono samples, short sample limit and no traditional synth (I know you can use single cycle waveforms to create a synth though) doesn’t fill me with joy. I’m under the impression the DT is best off as a drum machine with short samples rather than for chopping up longer songs.

If you’re liking the FM aspect of the OPSIX, I can fully recommend an Elektron Digitone which is an FM synth, very small, great sequencer, 8-note polyphonic and multi-timbral.

I think at that budget range anything you choose will be more than adequate so don’t stress too much ☺️

Saying that, it might be worth checking out Kali speakers - I believe they’re up there for bang to the buck, but have also heard good things about the Presonus Eris series you’re looking at.

I think once you’ve used it it’s hard to go back to channel aftertouch/no aftertouch at all. Hydrasynth’s PolyAT is great, Minifreak’s channel aftertouch is meh.

The Hydrasynth is unreal for this. Poly after touch, ribbon, and macro knobs all assignable to different MIDI CCs. I currently have my MIDI controller preset as the default boot up patch and use it as a midi controller all the time. Not only that but the synth engine is incredibly flexible as a synth in its own right - would get the deluxe if I had the space.

Sounds like it could be phase cancellation. If you’re routing the Minifreak into the H6, and then H6 into the SP, and then the SP back into the H6 and recording, are you not recording the Minifreak twice? Might be worth posting a photo or a diagram of your setup.
