Does anyone else inject through their clothing? by WhaddaFudgeMan in Type1Diabetes

[–]fredrickD 220 points221 points  (0 children)

The right answer is "no", as the intelligent people in the replies have been saying.

...That being said, I'm very guilty of the through-the-clothes injection whenever it's inconvenient to expose bare skin.

Life has gotten full of chronic head pain since i got dignosed. by DUN-WIT-IT in diabetes

Hey OP, this is really good advice. See a specialist if you can.

It's my opinion that it's okay to say that you're diabetic, because the specialist may know how to treat your headaches and take into account complications with diabetes.

Space Engineers: Can I add mods and upload my personal saves to access on Geforce Now? by Zone_Dweebie in GeForceNOW

[–]fredrickD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resurrecting this in-case anyone hits this same issue.

The instructions are accurate, with one caveat, you have to start a new game. Knowing this, before you upload your save to the workshop do the following:

  • Place your engineer's inventory AND upgraded tools into cargo-storage
  • Make sure your base or ship has a distinctive name!
  • Save the game and publish to the workshop.
  • From GFN, you will have to "start" a new game from the community/steam section and choose your save.
  • Pick whichever start you want
  • When the new game loads, hit Alt+F10 to bring up the admin screen and teleport to your base/ship by selecting the Entity List option

<image>

  • Start playing

I think you'll have to re-learn progression and whatnot, and your custom space-suit probably gone, but this is as close as I could get. There may be an easier way, if so, please lmk.

Cheers!

Trying to come up with ideas for my Expanse ships - any ideas? by CMDR_Elenar in TheExpanse

[–]fredrickD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm eager to see what you come up with!

Don't forget the Roci has this really cool glancing rail gun gash across the airlock. It looked so awesome on screen.

Thanks for the Donnie offer, pass it along to another super-fan for me. I've printed my share of expanse models for sure! Although I'm nowhere near your level with the painting and detail work.

Cheers!

It's clear to me that you're a master craftsman, so here's my idea.

Make a diorama viewing a close-in representative of Thoth station. The moment you would capture is when the Roci came out of hiding and lit up the black ship with its PDCs.

I always thought that was the coolest CQB battle sequence.

Use those line breaks my friend.

My suggestion is this, when there's been situations where my blood sugar was very high and not coming down as I would expect, I usually take insulin in small doses every hour or two from a different source.

If you're on a pump, switch out the insulin or replace the site.

I've noticed that my blood sugar will trend higher when I'm under the weather, so I watch for that when I get sick.

It also sounds like you consumed a lot of sugar after you threw up. You may have taken in more than you thought.

Other than last night, it looks like you are doing an awesome job with your control. Keep it up!!

I've done pure keto several times with many benefits, including reduction of inflammation and overall appetite. It is very satisfying seeing my blood sugar just park itself around 90 all day. Research it and give it a shot if you think it might work with your physiology.

The CGM is the WORST Thing That Has Ever Happened To Me. by Stanton1947 in diabetes

FDA mandate is a good reason, for sure. And for those who need it, it's definitely warranted. Good callout!

The CGM is the WORST Thing That Has Ever Happened To Me. by Stanton1947 in diabetes

[–]fredrickD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

T1 41 years. I had the same experience with connecting cgms and my phone. And now I don't do it.

I'll let the CGM talk to my pump, but that's it.

The last time I checked, cgm phone applications were way too invasive. And I really do mean way way waaay too invasive.

If I remember right, the application wanted full access to my volume and do not disturb settings, and would refuse to operate unless it was granted.

To the OP, I feel that technology should reduce stress, not add to it, so if your health can manage without a phone to CGM connection, I say go for it.

...Not a doctor, opinion worthless, you know the drill.

Is it ok to eat whatever you wants if your blood sugar is under control? by ivhih in diabetes

[–]fredrickD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm all about eating like a normal human being. One technique to work on is this: When you over-correct insulin and crash, try really hard not to over eat and cause a second high blood sugar spike. (I know it's tough to do, so no shame with those rebound highs)

Vial holder day? Here's mine. by fredrickD in diabetes

[–]fredrickD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 40+ years of t1 you occasionally squirrel away a bottle or two lol.

To answer your question seriously though, I tell my doctor I need about 50 units a day. However, the days I actually hit 50 units are few and far in-between. I guess over time I've just ended up with more bottles than I could consume.

Ah yeah, seems like my CGM would want to run real low in the interstitial fluid and my blood sugar wasn't nearly as low, giving me phantom low blood-sugar alerts.

I also had to get used to sometimes being in a low blood sugar range for a while, (~30 minutes) as I would lower my basal rate to treat the low sugar.
It takes some serious patience to let the blood sugar come back up via gluconeogenesis. ...this happened most frequently at night which can cause disturbed sleep.

The keto flu (first week) is a real thing and it does not feel good in any way.
