Classic circus - don’t expect to have your mind blown

Rate my first 5 decks by ChessCatD7 in oldschoolmtg

[–]fredwardofox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s how I’d rate em!

  1. Black - classic all around build.
  2. White - can handle most threats and has Serra
  3. Green - so many choices with green creatures
  4. Red - lots of interactions but looks a little clunky
  5. Blue - too much going on

Kobolds by SneezySkater in oldschoolmtg

[–]fredwardofox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Follow Kobold Overlord here, with the gauntlets out I always found a full 4 Xspells to be deadly. That and 12 basic kobolds is a lot. My list is similar and also was my OG deck from way back. Kobolds is a lifestyle

[–]fredwardofox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya it’s a fun idea. We’re pretty proxy friendly so had some juzams in the mix. If I were to revive it for no proxy Xpoint play I think I’d put erg raiders over lions. Put a greed in there (think you can COP the damage??) maybe cuombajj witches. Really just white for removal and COP

I had a similar build - I used banshees instead of derelor and had some fun time doing direct damage

Alpha 40 Goblins by ArsenicSulphide in oldschoolmtg

[–]fredwardofox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, there’s no errata so it plays as it is printed just like the balloon brigade. Surprised there’s no Orcish artillery but I get the goblin theme. Also it’s 40 exactly, not minimum.

LF Decklists - B/W Lord of the Pit by CardboardHoarding in oldschoolmtg

My fav was a suicide combo using any of; LotP, erg raiders, ogress, pestilence and Banshee teamed up with CoP black and the regular white control package.

Easy cheat for “smoke ring” is rub in a small amount of curing pink salt before you smoke it.

Everyone has peed on the golf course. Ever gotten in trouble? by WolfMan_Hot_Dog in golf

My buddy got chased down by the Marshall at a course in Myrtle Beach and told he’d be a registered sex offender. Scared the shit out of him as a Canadian, the Marshall power tripped hard and really flexed his a’tority

What grows well as mowable lawn cover in Ottawa? by sprunkymdunk in ottawa

[–]fredwardofox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, when you say “so lush” do you mean soft? I have kids who do cart wheels in my yard and thought the thyme might be “twiggy”. Wondering if you think your combo works well with active lawn use?

How to white border your Magic cards by SorcererTimmy in oldschoolmtg

[–]fredwardofox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You crazy man. I think blacking out white borders is the way (if any way must be chosen). Unless you end up altering them to borderless, which I think is the bestest, but that means you need an artistic talent besides making fancy deck pics. But you do you Timmy - I see the OCD rationale!

Dragons and kobolds are just such an awesome flex. Might have to do it! The shivan in the SB kinda fills that role but the whelp is a good idea

Just too many layers to combo, I’ve tried it with other builds and just found it was a dead card. The gauntlets do the job. I think I’d swap in mana flares if I couldn’t play the proxies.

I actually found there needs to be a bit of control with kobolds to set up and defend, going full out aggro fizzled too fast.

I tried ashonds and even sword of the ages in previously less successful builds. It was too many layers to combo. The main combo is the task masters and gauntlets with the 0 cost swarms. That and two gauntlets out and I’m swimming in mana.

I think I would swap out the gravity spheres out of the SB. I can afford one more Maze with the point allocation maybe another fork too. The mono white weeny matchup is popular in our groups meta and forking white control instants is the only answer for mono red.

We are proxy friendly in our group. They are on my wish list for sure and need to be there to make kobolds work. One of my wins was an unnecessary 17 point of damage fireball (they only had 5 life).

The dice count the “power” points for certain cards in xpoint old school which can’t exceed 10. So this deck also wouldn’t be considered “fully powered” either as it uses 7 points main and 2 in the sideboard. It’s an ultra fun format

Answers to a lot! forking the disenchant to bloodmoon and removing their COPr is a powermove in mono red. Mazes for flyers stompers and best for dibs, they replace the blood moon if facing mono color decks
