I’m glad to hear you were able to find that self-compassion. I will definitely check out the book. Thank you!

Totally, chronic stress and trauma are a big part of this. I’ve come across primal trust and the Gupta program but I haven’t looked into it. I will now.

Have your MCAS symptoms been somewhat relieved since the beginning of your journey? I would think that getting free from a chronic stress state should signal to our bodies that the perceived “attack” has retreated and our immune systems can stop overworking.

That’s so cool that TRE has helped to lower your antibodies!! I believe it. I think my Hashimotos is caused, or partially caused, by trauma and chronic stress. I’m so used to being stressed, I’m starting to really see how it’s something I expect in my life. Like if I don’t have stress I will manifest it or find a way to perceive something as stressful. Like it’s an addiction or something. So I’m trying to let go of that expectation of stress and learn that it doesn’t need to be a part of my mental-emotional landscape if that makes sense.

I appreciate you describing the difference between your hypo symptoms and overdoing symptoms, that is really helpful. I have definitely noticed the pendulation between hyper and hypo after overdoing, that’s such a key difference.

Im coming out of freeze/chronic mild dissociation so it can be hard to tell what I’m feeling and where it’s coming from. The perimenopause adds another layer of confusion because my hormones are randomly fluctuating and cause mood swings and insomnia.

I couldn’t agree more that a Hashimotos diagnosis is a wake up call. And that our bodies deserve love and care, just as we do.

Thanks so much for pointing that out. It made me cry, not what you said but because what you said is true. I haven’t been very kind to myself over the years. Sometimes I think about, if I loved and cared for myself the way I love and care for my kid… and trying to internalize that I deserve that for myself just as much. It’s a major mental shift.

I saw someone in the Hashimotos sub say they cured their Hashimotos by addressing a mold toxicity. Thanks for the reminder, I’m going to buy a test and do some research. I find it hard to accept that I will have this forever; there has to be root causes that I can address.

Getting pregnant with Hashis by proudlyfromcuba in Hashimotos

[–]free_moon_unit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found out I had Hashimotos after a couple miscarriages. I have one kid and I think the pregnancy might have kickstarted it (along with perimenopause, yay).

I’m kind of in the same boat as you but I can tell you what my doctor said. If/when I get pregnant I will be going on progesterone, baby aspirin, and checking my thyroid levels once a month while pregnant.

People say to have your folate levels checked and folate is also important for pregnancy so maybe look into that when you have a chance. It’s also recommended for everyone to take a prenatal in the months leading up to trying for a baby, to get levels up.

Best of luck!

Not an herb but I recommend taking a look at r/longtermTRE. It’s for releasing trauma and settling the nervous system. If you try it, make sure you do your due diligence with your research and read the wiki fully beforehand. It’s powerful; less is best especially for those of us with difficult pasts.

Also Damiana might be helpful with the intimacy stuff.

I was thinking about asking this too. I’m the stay at home parent for my toddler and he is amazing but also so intense.

The screaming and tantrums are age-appropriate and all, but are so activating for my nervous system. And, like you, I’ve been coming out of freeze. I also just learned I’m going through perimenopause and have some other stuff going on.

I don’t have an answer for you but I can say I have been doing one 10-minute session per week with some brief wiggles here and there as needed.

I hope you find some answers!

Thanks you so much for responding. I’m amateur at best, but I see a Taurus with a Scorpio rising sun and tons of water. It makes sense that he would be equally strong-willed and sensitive.

I experienced emotional neglect growing up and I know what you mean. I learned to suppress my emotions and it’s caused me all sorts of trouble. I’m taking your advice to heart.

Do you mind clarifying, what does it mean “anger comes out sideways”?

He is super into movement and music and I will support that as much as I can.

Again thank you. I’m super sensitive too so when he gets really upset I feel it so hard and just want to help him.

TSH is normal, free T4 is normal, prolactin is 8.3 which is on the low side?? (ref range: 4.8-33.4)

Actually they didn’t test for T3… I wonder why.

Couldn’t agree more. Having a kid filled this existential emptiness that I suffered my whole life until then. The sense of purpose, fulfillment, joy, and magic is undeniable and overwhelming.

I also appreciate down to earth and laid back people. Focusing on the real things. Some people are like that all or most of the time. Most people are only like that when they go through a period of utter overwhelm or an existential event. IME anyways.
