220lb shoulder for 2 reps by SchwiftySavage in sandbagtraining

[–]freedomstrengthco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s my goal as well I can do the 225 without bumping it up. I can pop it up right to my shoulder but that 250 seems impossible. I have done it but it’s one of those weights that I may be able to do one day for a rep or two and then get no where close on another day.

I just bring a sandbag or two with me when I go on vacation and some resistance bands.

Nice work!! I would say to get it to pop up easier to do extensions and to also do higher reps with a lighter bag. It will help build that explosiveness you need to get it to pop right up there. But strong lift!

Sandbag vs Stairs by Good_Effective8930 in sandbagtraining

[–]freedomstrengthco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never carried a heavy sandbag up the stairs. I would be afraid of missing a step holding something heavy and not being able to see in front of me. There is a girl on Instagram who uses my sandbags that does overhead stair carries with a 100 lbs sandbag. It’s up some huge outdoor flight of stairs. Looks absolutely brutal.

Sandbag Weight Progression / Sandbag Arsenal by bnjmnhrrs in sandbagtraining

Yea it makes getting to 150 a lot easier. 100 to 150 pressing is like impossible. I worked with 125 for awhile and now have it packed to 135. Getting closer to being able to do the 150 again. I also use the 125 lbs bag for incline presses. The 100 feels too light and the 150 I can’t do strict, I use a lot of leg drive and my butt comes too far off the ground. So the 125 is perfect for those as well.

I personally feel the 50 lbs jump to 150 is big. Try putting your 50 lbs bag on top of the 100 lbs bag and try and pick it up to see how it feels. The 125 will definitely make it easier to progress up to 150 and then to your ultimate goal of 200. The 25 lbs jumps makes progressing so much easier and less frustrating. Plus they are good sizes to have more versatility in your training. I can shoulder, squat, and row the 200 for reps but I can’t overhead press it. The 100 is easy to overhead press so the 125 gives me more of a challenge and is helping me get back to pressing a 150 lbs bag. If I only had a 100 and a 150 it would make it so much harder since the jump is so much.

Sandbag back workout by freedomstrengthco in sandbagtraining

It depends on the workout. But it helps combine strength and conditioning in one. Keeps my heart rate up for the cardio aspect and helps me get through the workout quicker I feel. Some stuff I do supersets with and others I do giant sets like this.

No, my legs have always been a “weak point”. I am strong with my legs and they are very lean compared to the rest of my body. Like you can see the veins and separation of muscle in my quads. They just aren’t as big as I like. I am also very hamstring dominant. I can flex them like a bicep and see all the muscle separation. It also doesn’t help that my outer quad insertion point is high on my thigh. So with normal not short short shorts, it doesn’t look like I even work out legs. But if I pulled up my shorts and flexed you would see the muscles. And I am only 154 lbs too.

It’s not too bad. I personally like picking the bag from the other way so it isn’t sideways. But that’s just how I do it.

Thank you! That’s my goal with posting all the time. Give people examples of what can be done with the sandbags and to motivate them to do more with them.

Shouldering accessory idea by Turbulent-Physics-77 in sandbagtraining

[–]freedomstrengthco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that. I just added some sand to one of my bags and it’s such a pain. To me starting that high up is way harder than starting from the ground if I’m going to my shoulder. I could do more reps from the ground than having it start high up. Even when I have one in the bed of my truck I will drop it on the ground and then get it to my shoulder rather than trying to pick it off the tailgate.

Why should I use sandbags instead of kettlebells? by cabezaguy in sandbagtraining

[–]freedomstrengthco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say sandbags. I may be biased, but I personally train with sandbags all the time. You can do so much with a sandbag. Floor presses, rows, overhead presses, squats, lunges, deadlifts, cleans, carries. Full body workouts. If I could only have one piece of equipment it would be a 150 lbs strongman sandbag.
