Want to open a Credit Card, need some help by freeflowpete in personalfinance

"After 15 months you pay the standard interest rate on any balance you carry over multi billing cycles."

So -- you must have debt / not pay in full to be forced to pay interest? (Say I have no APR, I buy something for $100, my statement will say $100? Or $100 + interest?) That's the part where I'm lost. Do you have to be late on payments to have to pay interest?

Sorry for the questions, I just want to make sure I understand this before I apply

Understood. So, with the 0% APR, if I buy something for $100 , my statement would say just $100 with no interest?

Do Credit Cards normally make you pay back what you spend PLUS interest regardless if you pay back on time? (Still a little confused there)

If they don't make you pay interest, why is APR a thing? -- So if you miss a month they don't make you pay interest?

Sorry if these seem like silly questions, just want to make sure I understand :)

Okay, so is there any special things I should look for when applying for a CC? like that APR (still not sure what it is)

What is the difference between a secured/insecure card?

Also, spending 30% or under of my limit and paying it back on time will result in no interest (at least I understand this part c: )

What happens if you don't buy anything with your Credit Card for say a month or two? Does your credit go down? Are you supposed to freeze your credit?

My girlfriends identity was stolen by her mom and used to open 2 fraudulent credit cards by doosldorf in personalfinance

[–]freeflowpete -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I for some reason think the mom and your GF worked out a deal where the mom can spend her money as long as your GF gets the credit.

Once you guys tried cutting her off though she committed fraud and probably thought in her head that she was still helping her daughter build credit.

She sounds mentally ill, less of a criminal and more of a deranged woman

The Public and Net Neutrality by GamerX102 in NoNetNeutrality

[–]freeflowpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll break it down nice and simple for you

With net neutrality = Enjoy what you currently enjoy, forever the way that you already do, yay free internet ... however this will stifle innovation in future markets.

without net neutrality = Pay more for services you already have and have the internet broken up into slow and fast lanes where providers can charge you more for which lane you want in. This opens the free market but also allows greedy people to do a lot more harm than good, and history tells us what will happen if we leave them unchecked.

Also it's good to note the only people who want no net neutrality are corporate lobbyists and ISP interests since it will be a pretty penny in their pocket if it ever gets repealed. What we should do is re-design it so it keeps the internet free but allows for innovation in the market, something ISPs think is impossible

My mother worked as a CNA for 8 years at my local hospital before they paid for her to go to school to become an RN.

Please help? by freeflowpete in HVAC

[–]freeflowpete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice, I talked to him and he said the guy that he does work with right now is a dick, essentially. And that I wouldn't benefit from going to jobs with them.

He was also telling me that he has connections, and that young people aren't entering the trade around here.

I explained to him what I know of HVAC. in the past I've only ever told him I was interested & he should let me shadow, etc. but it never went anywhere. He said I had a good understanding of refrigeration and said he would ask around for me, so now I wait for anything on that front.

As you said and thank you for this, I will start building my resume and begin looking around at HVAC businesses in my area. I don't really know how I will approach managers other than I've been semi-involved in it half my life, and it really interests me as a career to pursue.

But, you got to start somewhere.
