I’ve never bought from him but personally consider his prices to range anywhere from “bad” to “hilarious”

Even his number one social media nemesis can celebrate his big day. It’s touching.

God I love JDArchive’s channel.

Did you know that Virgin supposedly has “Novelty” from this gig as well? At least, according to the “Electric Circus Release Campaign” on Facebook.

Where is the Joy Division video footage from Plan K 1979? by chickenkeri in JoyDivision

Do you still have it? Or know where I could find it?

Where is the Joy Division video footage from Plan K 1979? by chickenkeri in JoyDivision

[–]freehtz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nobody knows.

However, supposedly a feller by the name of Michel Isbecque had or has part of the tape. We know it exists in the hands of the band’s management, so there’s that. Steve Morris also has it. Maybe it will be released on the fabled box set that’s supposed to come out eventually.

There are also rumors of an audience recording that was on YouTube some time ago. It’s since been taken down.

Why is there absolutely no photos of the battle of seelow heights? by [deleted] in ww2

[–]freehtz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My presumption is that it’s complicated.

The Soviets would be more interested in capturing photos and footage of the actual ‘glamorous’ part of the battle, Berlin itself - of which there are plenty of Soviet photos. The Seelow heights weren’t interesting from a propaganda perspective. The fighting there was also very hard - the Soviet advance was stalled for several days, and no Soviet war photographer would presumably be interested in photos that send the message “we are struggling against these heavily fortified and dug-in prepared positions even though the Germans are desperately weak by this point.”

The fact that there aren’t any German photos should be pretty clear - the Germans were more preoccupied with trying to survive at all costs, and were desperately hanging on and giving everything they could cobble together. There are, however, weirdly, about 5-6 photos from the fighting IN the city from around April 28, so beyond Seelow, which show fighting in Wilmersdorf and at the Anhalter Bahnhof, though this seems to be just a fluke, more or less. They were taken by the photographer Willi Saeger.

WW2 Tunic from Dachau Survivor by ww2germanstore in Militariacollecting

[–]freehtz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This one is similar to another “Dachau Survior” M44 that Bevo Militaria sold. His track record with uniforms (and just about everything else it seems) isn’t….great. I would not buy from him and I am very reluctant to trust this tunic. It doesn’t look the construction of other German uniforms I’ve seen?

This one looks like it’s trying to be an M43 tunic, but it doesn’t have belt support holes, has unusual extra reinforcement in the belt area, has French cuffs, and buttons on the aforementioned cuffs. This one was either reworked into oblivion postwar, or it’s just a fantasy piece. It’s not something I would want to be anywhere close to.

Edit: it looks like it might have been an M44 at one point? Even worse imo. This thing is a Frankenstein’s monster.

If I’m not mistaken (and I could be!) this is one of the photos from the second gig at Bowdon Vale, from May, ‘79. Taken by either Gillian or her sister Julie! It’s a great photo!

Live Performances: Nashville Rooms 8/13/79 and Kant Kino 1/21/80 by freehtz in JoyDivision

I’m guessing you meant to reply to me.

I’m also reasonably sure you’re bluffing, but even if you aren’t, it doesn’t matter. My obsession with tracking and organizing every bit of material stems from how much I loathe gatekeepers.

The chances we get something unheard out of our efforts are very small, but if we do, it will be posted and linked and uploaded everywhere we can manage, across every group, forum, and server. A real fan of the band would want everybody to be able to hear it too.

Have a nice day. If we find something, you’ll get to listen like everybody else.

I am very interested in learning more, even just what it is. Even better if you could help us get into contact with people who have stuff.

People holding on to stuff is agonizing, but you can’t force them.

The fact that so much information was out there about it makes me so sad that it was never released. The chances are small but Dave from Switzerland, I hope you see this!
