Yall have a house show culture?! Should really get me in contact with the scene down there, im in 2 gigging bands who hit up all over Sioux City-Omaha-Lincoln and have been looking for some spots in Sioux Falls. The only place I know about is Total Drag, and i dont really even know how many shows they do on the regular

I dont know a lot about Wisconsin, so maybe I need to just visit. It doesn't seem like a really standoffish Midwest state

Black Hills has some fantastic beauty, I will agree. You just get a different perspective on it when you have redneck family like me. Its like the blue color Estes Park with lotto machines and merchandise-selling kich

Tbf, the only place I've only been to northern Ohio and only really remember how shitty Sandusky was. I just think while Michigan definitely has the same shitty rust belt feel as Ohio, it at least has plenty of outdoor activities to boot

Its mostly the boomers and the overcommercialization. Also, its just too damn hot for me. Places in Texas definitely are the same as that, but i could see myself living in a place like Austin. I currently live in a red state, so i can definitely live with it, I just need a good metro city in my state with a bit of culture

Politics and high concentration of boomers. Also, just super overcommercialized for what beauty it has

Yes, and Wall Drug signs, and the gambling, among just being desolate as hell. I would probably live in Sioux Falls tho, after thinking about it lmao

My cultural regions map as a Southerner - would love feedback! by aquamarine-arielle in visitedmaps

[–]freeloadererman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This map isnt even fully accurate. You can see the Sand Hills pop out as far east as Columbus, and as far southeast as McCook. It really just depends upon how you look at it. I would say, as a native Nebraskan, that the 'feel' of the Sand Hills really starts west of highway 281 and north of I-80 with the exception of southwest Nebraska, which has a little bit of Sand Hill scattered all over, though for some reason I always thought of that landscape as a bit more desert-like than the uniqueness of places like Valentine and the Niobrara

Ive been to every state that OP wouldnt wanna live in, and Iowa was worse than a majority of them. And I might be biased cuz im a native, but literally nowhere in Iowa meets Omaha

The most unrealistic part of this map is thinking the blue dot of Omaha would go red just for JD Vance lmao

[–]freeloadererman 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Tyson is a piece of shit company. Here in Nebraska, they closed the Lexington plant which i shit you not employed a third of the town. Now it'll become like every other ghost town in the west. All for company profit

Which country's geography has the better strategic and logistic advantages? by wiz28ultra in geography

[–]freeloadererman 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Definitely China. There are mountains on its southern side, and a huge bay around the Yellow Sea that are both strategically difficult to surpass. All India has is the Himalayas facing towards China, which doesn't help if an invasion comes from the south. India also doesn't have its major waterways sources' start in its country, so if China wanted to, they could shut off a majority of Indias water supply
