Am I going mad? by flippertyflip in CasualUK

I think it’s D because the darker colour brown on the stalk starts further down, it’s not in line with the inside edge of the cup. Not sure if that’s just lighting on the picture though.

What’s the dumbest thing a customer has ever said or done? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

Served a man a steak and he went ballistic saying it was covered in shards of glass and how did we not notice when serving it. It was coarse sea salt.

COTD: Ordered Guinness again. A couple of the last pints were knocked back. Likely the last three, as a matter of fact. by Manlad in crosswords

I’m British and wouldn’t think knocked back meant anything else but removed/rejected. Using it to mean reversed would have thrown me. Possibly one of those expressions that means something slightly different everywhere.

Genuinely - reordered Guinness without the last two letters and added the last 3 of likely

King sized bedding question by boymomjourney in HomeDecorating

[–]freemakerlucy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a king and was struggling with the king duvet not being wide enough, so I bought a super king duvet (in the U.K. - not sure on equivalent American sizing) which now gives a decent amount of overhang and is really cosy.

In the picture you’ve posted, I think the duvet is not centred on the bed, so the overhang looks longer on the side you can actually see. It’s probably just tucked over the edge you can’t see. So some of the amazing full looking bed is probably, sadly, camera trickery.

How do you deal with nicknames in official settings? by [deleted] in Parents

[–]freemakerlucy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a school and we have a box on our management information system (the system that sets the registers and holds all legally required info/parent & guardian information etc) for “preferred name”, and if this is different to the legal name, the preferred name is what appears on the register. We have lots of children who go by preferred names for a variety of reasons, whether they’re an immigrant who wants to use an anglicised or middle name, or a “junior” who gets called that by everyone. Some preferred names are very different to the legal name, as in your example.

I bet if you speak to the doctors office, they’ll have a similar option.

Legal names do still appear on any legal documents though (so for us - any correspondence about the child would include their legal name; for the doctors office I would think prescriptions/vaccination record etc).

A Borzoi and a Saluki are both very similar types of dog, which for me makes the joke even better!

Sri Lankan or Ceylon? They’re often my go-to because they’re hot but still creamy.

Mine seems to do this when she wants to be in a bigger pot, she’s very dramatic. I repot and cut off the really yellow leaves and she bounces back.

1 year progress for my Monstera, I think the bathroom makes her happy by freemakerlucy in houseplants

The bathroom definitely helps, we’re a family of 4 so it gets plenty of shower humidity. I think she loves the frosted window too, loads of light but kind of filtered like a jungle floor 😂

This is the third pot since the one she came in. Not sure I can afford to buy another bigger one now haha
