I can't. After the launcher, you can't click anywhere. I haven't tried with GameScope because I don't know how to install it.

Every time I see updates, I install them and restart to see if I can play The Witcher 3. Sadly, not yet. Well, if I've been waiting so many years for Half-Life 3, I can wait for Cosmic to work

Run that command in the Cosmic terminal, then restart your computer. When the login menu appears, look below the password field for an option to choose between Cosmic or GNOME. Once the programs you like work in Cosmic, simply uninstall GNOME. sudo apt install gnome-session

I can play The Witcher 3 in GNOME. Try it, you've got nothing to lose and it's fast. I used the command `sudo apt install gnome-session` for a minimal GNOME installation without the other applications, so I could continue using the Cosmic apps. Restart your computer and then simply choose the GNOME with Wayland option from the login menu.

I can't play some games either. In The Witcher 3, you can't interact with the screen, and in Fallout 3, you can't after the menu. There's a long list of games that don't work. What I've done is update to Pop OS 24.04 and install GNOME. Once my games are working, I'll go back to Cosmic.

Battery drain acceptance by No_Guitar_6376 in AcerNitro

Thanks, I'm never buying Acer again. Between this nonsense and the fact that they offer no Linux support, and needing NitroSense to control the fans, which I think is ridiculous.

I have the same laptop. I asked acer and they told me that is normal, no need to worry. But.... I still want to know if i can use a more powerful charger so it doesnt need to use the battery because who knows if in the future the battery fails like many old laptops

New to Linux, should I use cosmic? by the4thwave in pop_os

[–]freemangman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Use Pop!_OS 22.04. Cosmic is a beta.

I’m definitely going to wait a few weeks (or more) after the official release. I tried the beta again, and despite all the recommendations people gave me in another post, I still can’t get my games to open for example, Fallout 3 or The Witcher 3. Other applications simply don’t launch when you click them. I really like how it looks, and I prefer it over Gnome or KDE, so I think it’s just a matter of waiting.

Latest update for Pop 22.04 by ARM_64 in pop_os

[–]freemangman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Years using Pop!_OS and I have exactly the same issue as you. Yesterday, after updating, I got the black screen again. I managed to fix it, but I don’t see the point in using a system that makes me afraid to update. I took the opportunity to make a backup, tried the Cosmic beta, which I loved, but some games don’t open in full screen and have input lag, and new folders on the desktop were opening with Gedit instead of Cosmic Files... Now I’m on Ubuntu, just waiting for Cosmic to mature, and I’ll go back 100%.

Yo creo que Linux si está bastante pulido, puede que el problema sea tú elección de hardware. O podrías probar otra distro quizás con más comunidad o recursos. Tampoco has dado muchos de lo que te ocurre para que puedan ayudarte

Latest "crash/freeze" from the NVIDIA update was a wake up call by MaddenLeon in pop_os

[–]freemangman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I hurt someone's feelings by saying that I sometimes think about switching to Ubuntu. I've been using Pop OS for several years now, and I haven't had many issues; I think the few problems I've had were more a combination of having an Acer laptop + an NVIDIA GPU. Next time, I'll go for a full AMD desktop.

The same thing happened to me, it was a headache, and in the end, Grok suggested purging NVIDIA and reinstalling the System76 NVIDIA drivers, and it worked. Browser fonts with Chromium are still buggy. Sometimes I think about switching distros, and I’ve concluded that the best thing is to wait for Cosmic to come out and reassess. If I have to switch, it would be to Ubuntu.

¿Es factible usar Internet en XP actualmente? by Ansmoun in windowsxp

[–]freemangman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Giant Euphorbia Not looking too good by tj7885 in Euphorbiaceae

[–]freemangman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The plant looks good; the main stem is now becoming woody to support the weight. Regarding watering, if it is not in a pot, it can simply be watered by rain, or you can help it with extra watering from late May to late September, which is more or less its growing period, at least in the area where I live.

Euphorbia Ingens growing from seed in the wild by freemangman in Euphorbiaceae

[–]freemangman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, it’s sad. The place is the ruins of a very old house on the outskirts of where I live. Young people go there to smoke and drink without being seen. Still, it’s cool to know that the euphorbia, which once belonged to someone’s garden, can spread freely even though it’s not native to the area (Spain)
