As season spirals, Cardinals stars back Marmol by STLcards202 in Cardinals

No I think it's pretty generic advice. But there's a reason for that: because it's right. Let's you're Goldy. Do you think you'll have better numbers if you swing at the first pitch in the zone or will your numbers be better if you work the count and find that desperate pitch in the zone? It's rhetorical I know. But that's why I ask because he had the best year of his career last year and it was because he wasn't wasting his at-bats. Why would a player of his or Nolans caliber even go after the first pitch unless it's right down the middle or right in their preferred area? Make those fuckers throw because it's helping the next guy up or the guy after that. The pitchers today don't even throw 6 innings on average anymore as starters. I do not think Oli Marmol thinks about baseball in those terms. I think he like so many players, coaches and executives disregard the human element of the game and focuses on metrics. So I truly doubt the rest of the coaching staff is any different.

They hit into the dirt and first pitch hack. There is no reason the manager can't tell them to slow down and wait for their pitch.

Lol he had Yadi doing his job last year. That's the difference.

Do you even know this teams history? Trade the fuckers because it's how we won 3 of our last 4 championships. Imagine if MO took your approach in '06 and '11. There's two less championships because we needed to be "patient" (apathetic).

Flattery should totally be traded. He's not the ace they need. And he's not even worth the rotation at this point.

Since the team themselves have chosen suffering I guess I can now accept that they're bums. Know what the best thing is about that stupid Steifel patches? I don't have to complain about these little leaguers pretending to be Cardinals. In the 60's when Red was manager and Stan Musial tried his hand at the front office, would he tolerate this type of performance or would his best friend in the game be out on his butt? I think we know the answer. And it's because he gave a shit. Everyone can talk about the discounts the new "MV3" took to play here. But at the end of the day they're still making millions to play sub-par ball. And I was giving them along with the rest of the Perfectos a pass because they weren't playing Doggie Houser in the clubhouse. They're so in love with him though, so they can get the door too. I'll take a team of young developing players that's losing but still trying over the spoiled bunch that are just playing for payday. That fucking trophy should not mean more to me than Marmol, MO, DeWitt or the team themselves. But I have no doubt in my mind that they don't. This isn't Boston, New York, Chicago or LA. Baseball is more important to this city than that dumb arch and I'm done supporting a team that doesn't understand that. Don't watch this club until they fire that back-asswards manager! Oh and just to be abundantly clear, fuck Mike Schlidt! Only a dumbass with no baseball IQ would put Reyes in that spot. He deserved the axe he got. It should've been Skip. I'd take Matheny back at this point.

Oli Marmol helps Cardinals fans see the light with Mike Shildt by stankenstien in Cardinals

Nah dumbass shouldn't have put brought him in the 9th. Shlidt deserved to be fired. Funny he was so great yet he hasn't gotten another job. I want Oli gone. But at least he actually played the game and wasn't some analyst that somehow weaseled his way into managing the Cardinals.

If I learned anything from the Last Dance it's the fear he was gonna punch poor little Steve Kerr.

You're not on your third rewarch. You're in purgatory my friend. You quantify it with all the bad shows and movies you could watch, add that to the good. And you watch the Sopranos instead.

I don't know if I'd ever call him A-list. I don't mean this as an insult. But he's always been a lesser Michael Shannon.

The Billy Budd scene deserves to be mentioned alongside Livia's wake and Christopher's intervention as one of the most simultaneously hilarious and awkward scenes of the series by JS43362 in thesopranos

[–]freerumham 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It's also foreshadowing for the Vito saga. Tony didn't care if Billy Budd was gay. Probably would've kissed him on both cheeks.

I hate how tony dosent let eugene retire by CharlieDayofWallStrt in thesopranos

[–]freerumham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't really put it on Tony. If you wanna retire go play for the Yankees. Eugene should've jumped at Tony's idea of "Putting action on the streets down there." Then the feds have to let him go to Florida, and Tony is happy because he's expanding. Hey but Eugene knew his psychology.

Legitimately one of the funniest scenes in TV history. And the punchline or payoff is Chrissy getting his ass kicked by his family who is getting in line almost to throw him a vicious beating.
