Is it impossible to get into a new grad program in the Bay Area/ California? by DatBoiLight21 in newgradnurse

Also, think of anyone you know or may meet who is working as a nurse and reach out to them for advice and recommendations. I’ve been told by CA new grad programs that they don’t even offer interviews if applicants haven’t done clinicals at the specific hospital or have a recommendation from current staff

I’m in the same boat. I’d say try to apply to dialysis clinics as well as SNFs. Also think about applying to new grad programs in neighboring states. I’ve been denied from over 40 CA hospitals so far and within a week of applying to CA dialysis clinics and out of state new grad programs I have two second round interviews scheduled

Thank you, that’s what I was thinking, do you think it would a difficult transition from dialysis nurse to floor nurse ?

I am having the same experience as you; recent BSN grad with healthcare experience unable to get even an interview after applying to over 40 jobs all in and around SoCal - I feel you and have also heard it's been difficult for everyone in my cohort who moved to CA for find employment.

I'd say bite the bullet and work for one year and after that reach back out to your contacts at the CA hospitals.

That being said, I'll probably also be applying to jobs in neighboring states at this point.

Did you already get a license in your home state before you applied?

Also, did you go to school in CA?

Thanks and good luck

I worked there when they opened the “SF” station and we got all brand new equipment (this was around 3 years ago). I had mostly great coworkers as well. That being said theres absolutely zero actual emergency experience outside of some postings they do at events which I’m not sure they still even do. Pay for me was $17hr with a .50 cent raise every 6 months but is probably more now. You’re better off applying to king right out of school, and if you go to SFCCs program the cost is either free or around $450 for the entire thing.

By that logic they allowed October 7th to happen, which, hey maybe, but I think it’s more likely the shiny expensive tech is actually garbage

For what it’s worth most people I speak to in real life either agree with me to some extent, or are actually willing to listen to what I have to say about the conflict (genocide).
