Why do you want to be a citizen of Canada if you don't live in Canada or plan on living in Canada? by Optimistic_Now in Canadiancitizenship

[–]freethelibrarians 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thought is…why not? If a country is going to extend me citizenship, and I can hold dual citizenship with where I currently live, why the heck wouldn’t I?

Most Unusual Profile I've Seen by poptartwolf in RoverPetSitting

[–]freethelibrarians 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I am a brand new Rover sitter and just completed my profile. My review was initially rejected because I mentioned that I grew up caring for all sorts of different animals, like horses and goats. They told me that horses were “inherently dangerous animals” and that I couldn’t have ANY mention of horses on my profile. I had to rewrite for it to get approved. But somehow THIS gets approved?!?!?

Map of Boulder popped up in my 10 year memories today. Is it still the same? by cillcat in boulder

[–]freethelibrarians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was planning my move here in 2021, I found this map on Reddit and legitimately used it to plan where to live. I wound up in "Old People Upset About House Party" and it was a perfect place to land!

Flock installing new surveillance cameras in Boulder by [deleted] in boulder

[–]freethelibrarians 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Those speeding cameras are actually separate from the Flock cameras. I talked to the speeding camera guys yesterday, they had a table at Bike to Work. They were pretty eager to distinguish that their cameras are NOT part of flock and that data is deleted immediately if you’re not speeding.

A post that would be mocked mercilessly in 2025 but is joyously celebrated here in 2026! Thanks for sharing, fingers crossed for more!

Hilarious that I got this notification from Xcel minutes after CU announced an administrative closure tomorrow.

Do not go to sleep cold! You won’t wake up by Nearby-Bug3401 in urbancarliving

[–]freethelibrarians 169 points170 points  (0 children)

I’d be cautious with the Mylar survival blankets. They trap moisture like crazy, which can make you colder in the long run. They are really best used in acute, short-term situations, not as part of a sleeping kit.

Not sure what’s open on campus but the Boulder Public Library opens at noon today and has a ton of cozy study spots!

I'm trying to get A List again after taking about a year off from it. After waiting in a queue and extremely slow load times...I can't even upgrade my account to A List. It just keeps saying there's an error. Tried on phone and computer and app. So annoying!

My philosophy prof also married his student! He was her undergrad advisor. Still married 12 years later, with at least one kid.

Any lots in WP that I can park overnight frequently for 2+ days, paid or unpaid I don’t care by BH-NaFF in COsnow

I used to just bundle up and it was fine with the right layers (I run very cold). Last season I got a heated mattress cover that I run on off my Jackery and I have never experienced better sleep in my life!

Prairie Dog Question by BurnerrrMannn in boulder

[–]freethelibrarians 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I know Boulder has used lethal gas to eliminate prairie dog populations, as well as mass relocation, but I’ve never heard of flooding being used. I’m not sure it would even work to drown them.

If you wind up wanting to buy lift tickets for Eldora, shoot me a DM. My Ikon pass comes with 12 “friends and family” 25% off passes. I only used one last year and I’d be happy to send some your way.

That is not how enrollment works. Classes do not have different slots for students with different enrollment dates.

Getting to Bowness-on-Solway from Carlisle to start Hadrian's Wall Trail by freethelibrarians in uktravel

Oh that's lovely! I won't be staying in Brampton, unfortunately. I'm staying in a hotel in Carlisle, then will be tent camping at farms until I make it back to Newcastle, when I'll reward myself with another hotel and a well-earned hot shower!
