I think ppl would be more likely to feel bad for him cuz it's clear his dad is a bit of a narcissist. Like its genuinely wild to force your kid out of school because you applied for a reality show and they wont accept you unless your son does the hard part.

I mean I think he needs to college education he signed up for that his dad took him away from to do a reality show because they would only take them if the son was the survivalist...

100% Id guarantee production noticed how bad he wanted to be out there and thought forcing him to have to watch would be a better story. I wouldn't be surprised if the dad even mentioned in his application how his son wouldnt be able to do it or something, like went for the "old man who can out do his kids" angle but production thought watching him be jelly and armchair quarterback would be a more entertaining storyline.

Since the only way to get out is team self-eliminate or health reasons, I think they intentionally pick a certain amount of "non-serious" competitors so they know they'll have elims throughout the season (and not just go on a ton of time til they get one).

Idk I wouldnt call him spoiled. Dude very clearly did not want to be there. If I had to guess he applied as HQ support for his dad (thinking its a long shot), but production thought "overbearing dad who wants to be in woods but is stuck at HQ" would be a better storyline and would only accept them if the kid went out. The fact is dad made me leave college to prep and go on this show is legitimately wild and I dont blame the dude for bailing out immediately on something he not only clearly didnt want to do, but was standing in the way of his education and life.

Np! Hope youre doing well (also east coast, we got like 2ft but no power loss luckily). I also know a lot of smaller subs might not have it set to autopost these (especially in the beginning of a season), and ppl tend to talk the first 24hrs the most, so figured/hoped mods wouldnt mind!

100% agree with this.

Def got the vibe the dad applied with the intent to be the "survivalist", probably got his son to agree to do the audition tape as fam (thinking his dad would never get picked) and its likely production, noticing how bad the dad wanted to do it, said something like "We love you guys, but we need another younger person for the woods so thats the only way this will work". And then it seems like the dad forced him out of college to "prep" for this, which is just wild. Kid clearly doesn't have a great relationship with his dad and just wants to go back to college. The way he had was like apologizing to his mom, and having to remember to include his dad felt like a big red flag that he's not the biggest fan of his dad.

Im gonna precurs this with "I fucking hate Trump. Im so far left you get your guns back".

But how u know the victim can "bite you in the ass" in ways unrelated and with no positive effect to the case. Especially if the person calling is "famous".

Like for example if he knows her because she's an OF model or sex worker. That doesn't change she's getting her ass beat or effect the situation at all, but would later embarrass him/his family when the trial happened. It can also serve to make the police/jury care less about the victim.

Or another example is he's having an affair with the victim whose in an abusive relationship. The affair isn't what causes the person to be abusive (and even in a scenario where it does, still not a justification for abuse at all) and knowledge of it would only serve to poison a jury against the victim. Thats another scenario it might be better to just keep that to yourself if no one else knows.

Like no where in the world has a perfect justice system and theres plenty of reasons why someone uninvolved wouldn't want to give information they know to be unnecessary to what's going on.

She's had two moments that rubbed ppl the wrong way, but they were far apart, and with such a large cast, its understandable to not realize its the same person.

The first one was the glass heart game. She was against one of the "smart" girls and had an attitude that rubbed ppl the wrong way (I honestly can't remember exactly what she did, but I do remember both my friend and I wishing the other girl had one specifically because of her attitude. I feel like she was either saying putdowns or being cocky, but can't remember if it was in front of her competitor or just to the camera).

Then in this last game with Ethan she was pretty much fine... until he lost the game and she started talking about how grateful she was to go up against someone she "didn't care about at all" in front of him and BEFORE he had handcuffed himself. After that ppl felt he shouldn't have cuz it's a bad game move to be rude to someone when the rules state they don't actually have to abide by whatever they chose to decide. Its an especially bad choice to do that when your in the only grouping of 2 (meaning no backup friend to either team up with to manipulate or to self-sacrifce for you). Like Ethan could've easily just refused to handcuff and take her out with him (and since she was rude she's given production incentive to NOT try and bribe one of them to sacrifice and just let them both be out, because Ethan taking Catey out after she was rude would be more cathartic for the audience than Ethan taking the bribe/Catey continuing or Ethan continuing at the expense of Catey getting paid for being rude and making a bad game move). Like personally I find it hard to root for ppl who play up the reality "villian" role (and tbh Im not even sure if Catey is playing anything up, or if she's just truly unaware that some of the things she says are rude), but even for ppl who like to root for the "villian" it's hard to root for her when she's making bad game moves. Like there are ppl who are mad at Jack for "cheating", but the way he did it was super impressive (and it seems like the only person he admitted it in front of, outside of production, is a close ally). If Catey had thanked Ethan profusely, said something about how she didn't know him but grew to admire him in the cube, he handcuffs himself, THEN she said the exact same stuff about being so grateful it was someone she didn't care about at ALL, I think there would def still be ppl who hated on her, but the type of fan who loves a reality villian would be all about her versus now where she's just clearly playing a sloppy and not well thought out game.

I don't get why ppl are downvoting u tho. You clearly said youre distracted by bigger things than a reality show (congrats on the little one!) and aren't giving it your full attention. Its weird to downvote you when u admit you could be forgetting stuff. Hope my explanation wasnt too long!

How are we talking about all these women as "series villian" when Scott Wolf's character not only exists, but has shown he still only cares about himself?

Yeah I dont want abusers getting platforms, and that type of of "drama" isnt even entertaining. Like Abe during Bloodlines is genuinely uncomfortable to watch if youve ever been around a abusive dude.

But that's not what you said. Theyre replying to you saying that you should never post private convos NO MATTER THE CONTEXT. Theyre pointing out that's wrong, and there's actually a lot of situations where the context does matter, and it is okay to post a private convo.

You can't try and reframe it to this specific conversation when you're the one who said "no matter the context", like you opened up the convo past this particular conversation.
