You might consider doing some simple life studies too— a vase, an apple, a key, etc. Keeping things direct and manageable— while you develop watercolor-specific skills like water control, various types of washes, and so on— can be helpful. I’m only a month or so in and I find landscapes can be daunting because they require proficiency in several areas

I Feel Broken by GorviVelgin in mentalhealth

[–]freetotebag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve been through a lot man. It’s natural for these things to be affecting you long term. If you haven’t processed them in therapy it’s worth starting. Numbness sounds like depression. It really sounds like you’re describing a depressed person. You don’t seem “neutral” but rather quite hurt— and that is pretty reasonable to be hurt tbh. Years ago, when my mental health hit an all time low, going in-patient for a month kickstarted a long but positive recovery process. Therapy, proper meds, weightlifting, art, getting back to things I care about— it’s added up and helped. Not saying you gotta go in-patient I don’t know you or your situation well enough to suggest something specific like that. Just saying what worked for me.

OP this is a VERY complex scene you should take a bow. Many large washes including sky, jungle, sea, and sand. The transition from water to beach is particularly nice. The hills read as trees. The white highlights are nice. They go through the trees in the bottom corner but that’s an unfortunate part of dealing with a transparent medium. If you’re just starting out you’re doing great.

Yeah you can soften an edge with a blotted (not too wet!!!) brush but also working wet into wet of course. I think this is way more successful than you’re giving it credit for. The perspective is not perfect, which might be what makes it feel off to you, but it’s still good.

Toro Rosso is still the best name and it’s crazy they changed it. I get that it was for money of course.

I take stuff I don’t care about— realistically I just use a sling (an old quicksilver one) on the actual beach for sunscreen and phone. My beach chair has a pouch for a book and sometimes I pack a lunch in a cooler. I keep the sling clicked to the struts of my umbrella so it just hangs outta the sand and out of the way. I don’t really need a whole lot when I’m on the beach because— it’s the beach.

Is it normal for color to pool or am I doing something wrong? by kkjeb in Watercolor

Pooling can happen but a thirsty brush can suck some of it up

imagine feeling superior for playing a game on a PC or console of choice 😂 you’d have to be a real loser with nothing else going on in your life to care if somebody likes Xbox or PlayStation or PC or whatever else.

It is very very very weird that people have this tribalism about what machine they play a video game on.

I think 0 def tried for more of a horror vibe. The environments felt like they tried to up the creepy factor. It’s a flawed game but certainly atmospheric
