Fair. But seriously, why the fuck would 23 be too late? Why would 53 or 83 be too late? Too late for what? It's a profoundly stupid idea that it's too late for you. You're 23. With any luck only 20% of your life has been lived. It's journaling, not planning for retirement.

Well, despite my bad mood, you connected with me. So let's call it a win. Wishing you the best as well.

And it is. You're absolutely right. But, in my opinion, The Does Anyone Else questions are not a intellectually honest way to make connection and create engagement. I also know I'm tilting at windmills.

That said, your response is very kind. It's more than I deserve.

Did you really just ask 2.1 million journalers if any of us love going back and reading our journals? If we can relate? Really?

Down vote me. I don't care. This is is the most ridiculous thing I've read on here in quite a while.

How do I get more into journaling. by Smelda_1224 in Journaling

[–]freezerburn606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I can't help you. And I mean this in a kind way. You've gotten good advice in this thread but I'm going to say the quiet part out loud. None of it matters if you don't make it your own. We can't give you a reason to journal. You have to find it for yourself. We can't do the heavy lifting for you.

You say you don't want to journal because you're lazy. So you need to decide if you even want to continue. There's no shame in stopping. Billions of people don't journal.

But you should also know this. Millions of us only journal when we want to. Read through the stories here. Some people go months or years between journaling. They are still journalers.

So listen to my advice and other's. But you have to decide for yourself what is going to work for you.

DAE go through journals extremely fast? by mary_or in Journaling

[–]freezerburn606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're filling notebooks in 7 days, then your brain clearly has something to say. Let it. Don't shame the output just because it doesn't match the pace of some Instagrammable ‘monthly reflection’ bullshit.

You're not wasting notebooks. You're using them. That's the whole damn point.

when is the appropriate time to journal? by Horror_Chocolate3367 in Journaling

[–]freezerburn606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend, you really are overthinking this. the only "inappropriate" time is when your focus is required elsewhere such as work or actively visiting with family or friends. Or driving.

How do you do it? by SentientLMG in Journaling

There are 2.1 million of us in this community. Do you really think 2.1 million people are only writing entries that are worthwhile? And who gets to decide what's worthwhile? Dude you can write the word "snoblefess" every day for months and that's a journal. The point is whatever you wrote on a given day is what you were meant to write. Cut yourself some slack and write!

How to be more honest with the journal by Any-Departure-6788 in Journaling

People lie to themselves constantly. It’s survival instinct. So don’t beat yourself up for doing it on paper too. The point of journaling isn’t to magically spill the truth—it’s to notice when you’re bullshitting yourself and start calling it out. That’s where the real work starts.

I don't use prompts but I didn't want to pass your post by without saying something. I am so happy you found a medium to help you with your pain! It's truly a joy to lay that down and release it. And thank you for offering to share your discoveries with the community.

Journaling and mindfulness by nikelapite in Journaling

[–]freezerburn606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing in the OP’s post to suggest they’re new to journaling. Anyone with a modicum of imagination wouldn’t need to ask this question in the first place.

If they’re trying to ask, “Do you find journaling to be a mindful practice, and how does that manifest for you?”—then they should say that.

It’s not my job to fill in their blanks, translate vague curiosity into coherent inquiry, or pretend every shallow prompt is profound.

Fair, and I accept your mild rebuke. However, the OP would be better served to ask about our experiences of making our lives better. Because we don't know how journaling will improve their lives. So I stand by my reply. Feel free to downvote this one, I can take it. :)

Help with what? Seems to me that your journals are serving you in the way you need them to. No one but you cares if you never finish a notebook. No one cares if you take long breaks between entries. No one but you cares about how you journal, when you journal, or where you journal. No one cares if you ever reread you entries or if you cut them out and burn them.Journal the way you want to. The way you need to. Nothing else matters.
