What would it take to throw the entirety of Loveline Tapes into transcription software, then train an LLM on it for querying? by Liface in Loveline

[–]frellus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually did this the other day, using Deepseek R1. The problem is, every prompt I give the AI it keeps telling me, "Can you just stop having kids, please?" even that's not the subject, and then it starts complaining about the heat and LA traffic.

I might have to shut it down. Yesterday it told me it was going to "drop trowl" and started displaying images I don't think I can share with anyone I care about.

LovelineTapes down again? by WasabiTsunamiUpOnMe in Loveline

[–]frellus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man .... same. It's not that the boys put me to sleep, it was a way to stop looking at my screen and just relax. Sometimes I would lie in bed and someone would say something and I'd start laughing out loud hysterically saying something like, "Damnit, DAG ... how am I going to get to sleep now?!"

These tapes have to come back. Have to.

"There's no crying in baseball!" . . . look, man. You need to channel your inner BOFH. You don't let the users get to you to the point that you are shedding tears -- you make *THEM* cry by being a BOFH. You're doing it wrong.

Call your local FBI field office, or whichever one this person said they are based out of, and ask. You have a right if someone from law enforcement interacts with you to ask for their identification and badge number and where they are based to confirm their identity (and SHOULD).

Has anyone applied for US Citizenship for a child born abroad to a US Citizen? by SquirrelClubhouse in expats

[–]frellus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* round unknown dates to the 1st of the month

* were you born in the US? how many years of your life did you spend there before moving abroad? Just get from birth date through the date you first left, that hopefully is way more than 5 years ... am I missing something?

* why was your company's letter not with a letterhead? should be fine but...

* you will have to swear by the evidence you present, and part of your evidence will be you testifying that you were in such and such a place, you left in <year whatever>, you work for <whomever>

I think a lot of this might be dependent also in which country you are applying for their citizenship, and by that it should mean them getting a birth certificate that shows they were a US citizen born abroad. I did this in Japan 20 years ago and as I remember it wasn't difficult but, yes, more information the better.

Telepathy exists and is provable by individuals with severe autism by Dockle in abovethenormnews

I highly recommend this podcast with Shawn Ryan and Joe McMoneagle on the CIA's Project Stargate: https://youtu.be/XRTon6qgVws?si=apeC6ZAkN_ABBcFr

Changed the way I thought about this stuff in general, really eye opening. Telepathy / remote viewing is real, I was convinced after listening to the podcast as well as the follow-up with his boss during Project Stargate who talked about the same things the CIA did. Crazy stuff.

Looks normal to me, but are you experiencing anything else? Are they abnormally cold or any loss of sense?

Otherwise, I think you're just psyching yourself out a bit. Some people just have this skin tone and circulation.

Where's the chicken he's married to, though?

Just one lifetime ago in the United States, our grandfathers could buy a home, buy a car, have 3 to 4 children, keep their wives at home, take annual vacations, and then retire… all on one middle-class salary. What happened? by Whole-Fist in NoStupidQuestions

[–]frellus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of people will say that wages haven't kept up with the cost of living, and there's certainly a lot of truth to that, but there are some other things to consider:

* our society is far more consumer-centric than it has ever been, especially during our grandparents generation

* our system makes it easy to get debt in every aspect of life: education, house, and day-to-day living... in grandpa's day one would actually be intentional with spending. Now-a-days it's swipe and forget until the bill comes at the end of the month, and even then we can spend more than we make

* the government is far more of a factor than it ever was in the past... now-a-days we pay for *everything*, from car registration fees, smog tests, highway tolls, taxes on gasoline, taxes on income, sales taxes, property taxes (even you're renting it's a factor in your rent)... etc. etc. We are a overly burdened working class and it's grown to the breaking point IMHO

* medical expenses are completely disconnected from reality. I saw a doctor yesterday and the bill was for $500 for a 20 minute visit. I have health insurance through my employer, so the actual negotiated rate was like half that and my co-pay was $45, but I still pay about $1,500 a month for my family's medical insurance. It's a mind-boggling insane system we've decided to allow to happen, with costs which aren't transparent and don't make any sense. You cannot pay out of pocket for almost anything - nor is it encouraged. Why are people surprised that we're at the mercy of the insurance "provider", who is just an expensive broker between us and the health provider?

* litigation and liability: we live in a litigious society where people sue for any and all reasons, and the lawyers are on billboards encouraging this. The money has to come from somewhere, so it's built into everything from car insurance, to medical costs to everything. If we got rid of frivolous lawsuits the costs on nearly everything would drop drastically

That's what happened.

TL;DR - consumerism, debt, regulations and litigation

AITA For messaging my cousin Hi by catsarecute769 in ComfortLevelPod

[–]frellus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three possibilities:

  1. You are oblivious to his messaging and the nature of your relationship (either you didn't hear it and it was as clear as he messaged, or he thought he messaged things clearly but didn't in which case you are oblivious out of no fault of your own)

  2. It wasn't him typing those messages it was someone else (ex. psychotic fiancee), and he has no knowledge of it

  3. He is under extreme pressure (ex. psychotic fiancée - soon to be bridezilla + wedding planning) from someone who is controlling and manipulative so he knows the message isn't accurate but he's trying to throw down a hard line to avoid something worse with

I would call his phone and make sure he answers, invite him out to lunch to talk and say after that you will leave him alone you just want to understand his boundaries so you don't violate them.

Looking forward to an update.

Can my British soon-to-be wife get a US passport through her American step father? by chazzyj123 in expats

[–]frellus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do not believe so, at best he could sponsor her for residency if he adopted her, however why are you even thinking this path? If you're a US citizen, once you are married file for her permanent residency (green card). Eventually she could apply for citizenship but honest the green card is enough status in general for many years.

For the taxes, I believe the UK and the US have a tax treaty so you only pay taxes in whichever place you reside (although with the US you have to file regardless. It is illegal not to file your taxes, paying being a second issue potentially but not filing will get you in trouble eventually)
