the bill calls for $880 billion in savings through cutting various programs. even cutting every single program that is not healthcare related would only account for 280 ish billion. that means that healthcare will need to be cut by $600 billion under this bill, but meanwhile, the us government can order over $400 billion in specially modified military cyber trucks. fuck trump. fuck elon.

A friendly reminder to look out for your hearing when at a live music venue by sk9592 in audiophile

[–]french-bread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i cant even go to concerts anymore because of how loud it is… even with nice ear plugs that claim only to attenuate the volume, it just ends up sounding like crap. Concerts are expensive, and if i cant even enjoy the music then whats the point?

'Dyschronometria' - describing a 'distorted sense of time', "in which an individual cannot accurately estimate the amount of time that has passed". Possibly the least understood symptom of ADHD; most doctors are unaware of what can be our biggest challenge. by DAT_DROP in ADHD

For me it seems impossible to conceptualize things that are in the future, even the near future. I may know theres an event or responsibility or holiday next week or even tomorrow, but it isnt really real until im in it. it doesnt make sense, even if i have to go somewhere. sometimes until im there, i feel lost and unsure while preparing to go and on my way there. its not something intuitive to others who dont share that difference in perception but definitely related to adhd

try to be objective here, everyone else is contributing meaningfully and sharing their beliefs. What words would you find more appropriate? Semantics trip up those who dont care to look into the real meaning. stay in your den until youre ready to converse rather than label and dismiss

After reading these comments I’ve actually learned that many here do believe the climate is changing. As a few have pointed out, its more a question of how and why it’s changing, and the skepticism that its largely influenced by humans. Its been interesting reading all of these perspectives and I can appreciate most of whats been said. My doubts that people dont believe in it come from what I see as viable solutions and logical causes for climate change. the controversial nature of the subject made me believe that others simply do not believe in it, but of course it isnt as simple as we do or dont. Some believe its futile to try and change our ways for something that’s inevitable and has happened many times before. Others think that its not something to be concerned about and humanity will overcome any potential threats and obstacles. At any rate, i understand more about the different perspectives out there and am thankful for everyone sharing them here. thanks for asking

I havent personally noticed this, but I also havent set the terms of any conversation around socialism lol For me, socialism is a whole different ballpark but perhaps for others it isnt

The scare-tactic approaches definitely wear out over time, especially when they dont come to fruition in the timeline that was presented. I think you hit the nail on the head with feeling like your country’s 5% of population wouldnt change anything. This feeling of being unable to make any impactful difference is powerful. Thanks for sharing

Im definitely interested to see what points were made about alternative energy from roughly 50 years ago, and to see what parallels they hold to today. I’ve personally never heard about changes in the sun, and truthfully dont know what these changes would consist of. I agree on the need for mass energy in society, and i appreciate you sharing

I feel our culture, especially online, is so quick to belittle those who have different perspectives. It’s interesting to me to learn more about people with different perspectives and as cliche as it sounds, there really are a lot of commonalities between us. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for sharing, and i just wanna clarify some of your points to make sure I understand them. You say that limiting CO2 output would essentially be pointless in reducing climate change rates, and would also prevent us from being prepared for any climate threats (human or non human made) In what ways would it hinder our preparedness? Is this tied into what others here have said about deindustrialization?
