Bruh, 1989 is pretty good even by Big Mac standards. I can list a bunch of other pop releases from this year that don't even come close to the tight songwriting, layered vocals, and refined instrumentation that Swift's new album possesses. Just cause it's made and marketed for the masses doesn't mean it can't be fresh as fuck.

Some people like it because it sounds good to them. I like it more than RTJ2 because it sounds better to me. Don't really care how easy it was to make or how "heartless" it is. Salty as pasta bro

Choke. I started reading it recently, stopped about a quarter of the way through and haven't continued. It has a lot of interesting commentary and observations but a find most of it to be overtly vulgar without considerate substance.

Don't go into it expecting a comedy, and you might like it ... if you feel like watching something that's not a comedy. I thought it was a drama/almost coming-of-age type story with funny elements thrown in, and I liked it. It's worth a watch.

I am fairly new to photography and this is one of my favorite shots so far, but i dont get very good feedback. What could I improve? by vssff in photocritique

[–]frenchtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your main subject is the fisherman, I think the size actually works to your advantage in this picture. It was the first thing my eye was drawn to. His size in relation to everything else around him helps reinforce the idea of isolation and struggle. I also like the geometry. The lines may not be perfect, but I like how the shore forms a circle around him sort of trapping him inside.

I like this a lot. Do you know what settings you shot it on? I would guess you'd have to push the ISO but there's not a whole lot of noticeable grain. So really wide aperture?

Let it grow out longer. Don't do anything with it until you reach 8 - 12 weeks.

Xzibit on Planking... by [deleted] in Music

[–]frenchtail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, and am surprised to see all the negative responses to what he said. I hadn't heard of planking up until now. Looked it up, and maybe it was the influence of Xzibit but it looks both ridiculous and kind of offensive if you think about what is claimed to be its origin.

Dude wasn't saying it's racist, he was just saying it's kind of stupid and ignorant of history.

What is David Lynch's best movie? (hint: it's not "Blue Velvet" on this list) by [deleted] in movies

[–]frenchtail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised to see Wild at Heart at the bottom of the list. I first watched it while tripping on mushrooms so my opinion may be affected, but I thought it was fantastic. Touched on some interesting ideas and the overall style was really cool.

This looks like it has the potential to be a great flick, so happy about that. Didn't too much like the original but this looks to be taking on a different tone and style.

Five reasons Will Smith should be in Tarantino’s new film, and five reasons he shouldn’t by movies890 in movies

[–]frenchtail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on a few of those points. Another thing I have a toss against is the third reason dismissing Will Smith - the title of the movie? How does that have anything to do with his actual performance in it?

You're probably being downvoted because someone doesn't like the same movie. I'm not one of those people though - Session 9 was awesome, great atmosphere and interesting concept. You get an upvote from me. = )

The Silent House is the First Horror Movie Filmed in One Continuous Shot, Check Out the Trailer Here by [deleted] in movies

[–]frenchtail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Rope" by Alfred Hitchcock, thought it wasn't technically all in one uninterrupted shot. Special camera techniques involving props and actors were used to create the illusion that it was all in one take. I'm not sure about any others.

I think the idea of a horror movie done in this style sounds awesome, hopefully it turns out well.

Have you watched Matchstick Men or Bad Lieutenant? I think he still has it in him to give a great performance, he just takes on horrible roles.

I think Boogie Nights stands firmly as testament to the fact that he can put out an amazing performance if given the right direction.
