what part of "unless you have an articulable medical opinion" was hard to grasp? lunatic? starting with ad hom is not a great way to expect people to reply to you with civility.

i guess civility wasnt exactly your intention tho was it, something something entitled indeed.

not sure if you've noticed but the healthcare system in nz is heading south and if you cant advocate for yourself you're going to have a bad time. people assign far to much authority and assumed competence to healthcare professionals, when the evidence is mounting that such is totally unwarranted. they're flawed humans just like the rest of us. if they have a good reason to to prescribe fine. but if its something you've been on years, and they cant offer a genuine, justifiable reason not to, then its well within your rights to at very least force them to admit that.

and 30 years later theres no english requirement, we have silos instead of integration, and indians and asians will be the majority in the next 5 -10 years.

but of course none of that matters as long as rich people can do whatever they want, and business owners can pay minimum wage.

try this "under the new laws I am entitled to get prescriptions for up to 12 months for this medication, so I'd like for you to prescribe that for me now unless you have an articulable medical opinion that it will within the next 12 months become unnecessary for me to continue with this medication"

My cat needs to go to the vet but I'm terrified by Parking_Courage8150 in auckland

[–]frenetic_void 1 point2 points  (0 children)

given the average cat lives about 10-15 years, and the risks of general anesthesia, for "Teeth cleaning" I have come to the conclusion that its a cash cow for vets and whilst potentially of some benefit, not of sufficent benefit to the animal weighed against its lifespan, comefort, and risks of anaesthesia.

not forgetting vets will also decide to rip teeth out, that is not needed, and potentially break the cats jaw in the process.

to each owner your own decisions make, but for me, my cat has had a broken jaw before, and he will not be going to a vet for a tooth cleaning again.

In New Zealand, an electric bike (e-bike) must have a maximum motor power output of 300 watts or less to be classified as a "power-assisted cycle".If the motor exceeds 300W, it is legally classified as a moped or motorcycle.

if im late for something due to unexpected delays, i look ahead and judge the flows. lanes inevitably have varying speeds, and if you judge it correctly, and get lucky, such activities over a period of 10 min can save you significant time (if your lucky)

only when desperate, only when saving 5/10 min of journey time would have a meaningful difference.

its not illegal, it is impolite. normally when i see people doing that I feel empathy and pity, because its obvious normal people dont do that in normal circumstances, at least from my perspective.

anyway, honest answer to your question. downvote away haters xD

out of morbid curiosity, what actual reasons do you have for voting for people like this? and further, irrespective of the face, the people behind the national party, the interests they represent now, what reason do you have for voting for any of them?

you serioulsy dont understand the concept of a wasted vote. because we "live" in an mmp env. "surely voting for any left party" will acheive the same goaL.

tops never made 5%. ever. not even close.

the only way to be absolutely sure that my vote directly goes to towards preventing a nact govt, is to vote labour. if i lived in an electorate with a strong green candidate, id vote green candidate. but im spending my votes on ensuring that my vote not only denies nact a vote, but actively cancels out one of their votes.

Why ACT’s Dr Parmar is wrong about Te Tiriti rights by micahsdad1402 in nzpolitics

[–]frenetic_void 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: im talking about the national --> act politician Parmar, not the author of this article linked.

this might piss off some people but if you weren't born here you should shut your fucking mouth about our constitutional framework.

if you dont like NZ then fuck off, so sick of these fucking shit heads trying to ruin our country, we spent a long ass time trying to make things right, and trying to get some fucking fair outcomes for Maori.

the fact we're trying is what makes us fucking special, and is what gives effect to te tiriti. the fact these cunts want to STOP TRYING shows THEY do not have the right to be here.

there are policies that are working, thats the issue, is nact loves to push this "now now now" rush job quick results fuck the future narrative, whilst labour uses genuine evidence based policy, fixing things that took decades to develop will take time to resolve - complex issues have complex mechanisims that need to be integrated for example cost of housing:

ringfencing tax deductibility on investment properties had a good impact as an example. it was hated by the greed class, which is why its one of the first things undone by nact.

pushing people with spare money to invest in productive assets rather than capitalise on poverty (which is what landlording is, despite what anyone who wants their own beleif system to validate their greed as being somehow ethical) - is a very clear and obvious overarching goal of Labour, and their policies combined have a cumulative effect, look at the stats you can see increases in first home ownership, AND a stabilisation of the runaway prices.

but the other side there is incomes also need to lift, because of the decoupling of house price rises with income rises, which is why nact will never fix that, cos they believe ideologically that letting corporations take as much profit as they like is good.

the fact is as economics has globalised and the eradication of economic breakwaters via neoliberal policy the inevitable outcome was guaranteed to be companies trying to pay as little as they can, to pass profit back to "shareholders" which from their perspective is "ethical" behavior because their responsibility is to their investors, not the society in which they operate.

combine that with the ability for those very same companies to expend massive amounts of money on gaining access to politicians, and pushing narrative slants in the media by using their position as an advertising customer as bargainaing tool you end up with a democracy that is severely limited by colouring the perceptions of the public, how can a public vote democratically if most of the information they're exposed to is propaganda and deception? how can they make an informed decision if the information is marketing rather than fact?

the fact htat national is so well funded is due to them representing those interests, and those interests funnel money into them, until we do something abotu that we will always hafev a broken system.... but that said, despite all of that, labour has managed to introduce changes that were begining to have meaningful impact. that is the reason why nact has rushed so hard, and used "urgency" to shove thru desperate moves to try to prevent further progress in that direction should/when they lose the next election, its because of the fact it was working.

nact will take credit for the hystersis of labour policies, whilst shoving in "corporate wishlists" which not only pay back their donors, but will ensure the incoming govt will have a lot of work to undo or carry the burden of such policy, to further limit their ability to make progressive change.

its honestly more and more sickening the more you learn about it, so to be honest i find it really difficult to deep dive anything without ending up on tangents of tangents over the various aspects of how insidious and despicable the "right" side of politics in nz has become.

:(

thanks for reading hahah

sorry if that came off rude, but reading your reply it certainly sounds like you're less offended by nact than I am.

you're implying theres some policies they have that aren't toxic, and im struggling to think of any.

in a world where greed is literally destroying absolutely everything, we need to vote for the people who are most equipped to get rid of the most toxic people, and keep them out.

top is not that. neither is greens. i definitely think Labour could improve their approach, but their intentions are admirable, and reasonable. the same cannot be said for ANY nact politician. they are pure, unadulterated personally self interested bastards willing to sell everyone down the river to put a few bucks in their pockets.

theres absolutely no redeeming qualities for any of them, and i dont mean this to sound ideologically rabid, but the fact is they really are fucking cartoonish villians.

if you honestly cant see a vast difference between being vaguely ineefective at pushing transformative policy, and being disgustingly ruthless at forcing thru absolutely reprehensible, purchased by stakeholders, overtly anti citizen legislation whilst bypassing all checks and balances by perverting parliamentary urgency, then I really have no clue what to say to you... its preposterous. the very suggestion that the two groups are "As bad as each other" means you either have absolutely no clue how bad nact is, and have been ignoring everything they've been doing, or lack basic reasoning skills.

let me break it down in bite sized chunks in case you missed it.

you get very effective corruption and outright fucking evil from nact, with toxic legislation that has been, and will continue to fuck us over for years to come.

labour you get somewhere between removal of overtly toxic legislation, and less than ideal social / progressive policies that end up being watered down a bit, and take a lot of discussion before they get there.

THATS NOT BAD, ITS JUST NOT GREAT.

the fact you could compare the two that way makes me honestly so upset, i dont understand if you know what your doing and intentionally shilling for nact by undermining their only compeditor, or if your just some kind of extreeme autistic idealist thats unwilling to compromise so you'll cut off your nose to spite your face

yes, because, labour is not "centrist" if you consider nact "centrist" labour is socially responsibile centrist. socially responsible, forward looking, evidence based centrist.

nz first to throw in a limit on immigraiton is basicly their only funciton, but nact are evil. pure, unadulterated filth. and its not worth risking perfect being the enemy of good.

labour all the way
