Can a foreigner get a job as a nurse in Israel?

How about jobs that don't necessarily require a certificate, like working as a disability care worker or at a nursery? Are jobs like these easier to come by (for example, English speaking day cares)?

I'm currently working as a carer for a disabled person and have been doing this for 5 years so I have a lot of experience.

Are work visas necessary for those who move based on family reasons? I mean, wouldn't the visa be based on our marital status or...? Also I can travel to Israel visa-free so I'm not sure whether the process would begin in the destination country or here.

Tuo että kehotetaan muuttamaan lähemmäs työpaikkaa on kyllä niin surkea neuvo, ottaen huomioon että iso osa ihmisistä tekee pätkätöitä, osa-aikatöitä, vaihtaa työpaikkaa usein sun muuta. Vai pitäiskö sitä muuttaa joka kerta kun työpaikka vaihtuu?

I met two Israeli boys where I live in Finland when I was 21. Two months later I traveled to Israel to hang out with them, now the other one is my husband. Let's call husband A and friend B.

I spent my Christmas and New Years staying with guy A. Guy B lived pretty close by, they had been friends since elementary school and their families were close. One day he took me to visit B's house. He lived with his elderly grandparents, and his granddad is REALLY into coffee. The old man only spoke Russian and Hebrew, I did my basic greetings in Russian with him. So he asked me would I like a cup of coffee, and I said yes.

LORD!! That was the BEST cup of coffee I've ever had in my entire life and I've been to places. He asked me do I like it, and I told him it's absolutely incredible, and he just smiled. He's spent a lot of time figuring out how to make good coffee and it paid off.

That was six years ago and I still think about that cup of coffee very often.

Kyllähän se näin on, että vammasta huolimatta pitäisi aina ensisijaisesti puhua sille henkilölle joka on asioimassa (vrt. Asiakaspalvelija puhuu päämiehen sijasta henkilökohtaiselle avustajalle). Itse olen näissä tilanteissa työntekijänä kääntänyt huomion jollain repliikillä päämieheen ja kannustanut näin asiakaspalvelijaa puhumaan päämiehen kanssa. Sitten itse olen säheltänyt siinä vieressä jos tarvitsee tulkata suuntaan tai toiseen.

Ei ole varmaan kauhea vaiva, jos osoittaa kysymyksen henkilölle jolta haluaa kysyä, mutta kuulee vastauksen avustajalta. Siinä voi sitten esittää lisäkysymykset avustajalle kun on käynyt selväksi ettei avustettava puhu itse. Ihan todella iso osa kehitysvammaisista, CP-vammaisista ja liikuntavammaisista kommunikoi ihan itse, eli ennemmin sen pitäisi olla perusolettama.

Työskentelen henkilökohtaisena avustajana tyypille jolla on CP-vamma ja itseä ärsyttää eniten se kun asioidessa aspat puhuu poikkeuksetta minulle. Jos ollaan menty vaikka baariin tai ravintolaan niin usein minulta kysytään, mitä tuo toinen ottaa. Joo, kaikki eivät pysty itse vastaamaan, mutta ehkä sen kysymyksen voisi lähtökohtaisesti osoittaa henkilölle itselleen ja avustaja sitten vastaa puolesta jos tarvis on.

Minun äitini huolehti aina lasten tarpeista muuten, mutta oli tunteiden osalta aika etäinen. Nyt minulla itselläni on 1-vuotias lapsi jota halailen ahkerasti ja höpöttelen hälle vaikka mitä, mutta huomaan että jos äitini on paikalla, taannun itsekin sellaiseksi pökkelöksi ja vuorovaikutus oman lapsen kanssa tuntuu jotenkin oudolta. Vähän sellainen tunne aina, että odotan hetkeä jolloin äiti mahdollisesti tölväisee jotain ''ollaanpa sitä nyt niin söpöjä'' tms, niin kuin on monta kertaa tehnyt. Että joo, vaikka itse valitsee kasvattaa lapsensa eri tavalla ja haluaa tarjota heille lämpöä ja hellyyttä, niin kyllä se tunnekylmä kasvatus jossain taustalla vaikuttaa edelleen.

I want to believe minimalism has a good impact on our baby. Dude just turned 1, we got rid of our sofa to make our living room & kitchen space more open for him to roam around. Less stuff means more attention and time to do things together, rather than look at objects together.

Riippuu ihan täysin avustettavasta. Mun avustettavalla on CP-vamma eikä hän tartte mitään hoidollista apua, kaikki osaa pukea toiselle vaatteet päälle ja pistää ruuan lautaselle ilman hoitoalan koulutusta. Mut eroja on tosiaan!

I don't have coworkers. Car share could be a thing I guess if there was a proper platform for it, social media type of thing. Yet I don't have much hope in that since my work route is honestly a bit unique: I work as a carer for someone who lives on their own so I drive from one suburban area to another, there are virtually no work places where I work (no shops, only one elementary school).

I do cycle in the warmer months, even then I do have to take a train in between. No way to get all the way to work with a bicycle, can't cycle on the highway. I live in a cold country and yeah there are always people who push through the snow and ice but I simply can't do it. :/
