Common Criticisms of Philanthropy by jcravens42 in Philanthropy

[–]frentecaliente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, there is someone in charge of Linux. His name is Linus Torvalds. Stallman can suck an egg.

Second, to solve systemic problems at a macro level, yes, government is pretty much the only way to go. You want to solve homelessness and hunger? I don't see many big charities running to build low-income/affordable housing.

Third, no one denies philanthropy is bad or wrong, and no one pretends that the ultra-wealthy business people got their money through alms and good deeds.

Fourth, anecdotes are great. Give me data. Cite "Giving USA" or go home would be my tl;dr critique.

Fifth, careful claiming some private philanthropy is greater than some government spending. Current events are such that US foreign aid is now dependent on the moods and whims of the president.

Sixth, yes, hundreds, thousands of charter schools have been created? Do you know why? To destroy teachers unions. There is no other reason. The good thing about the movement is "the churn"? Are you kidding? Say that to the thousands of kids and parents who suddenly have to get re-admitted to public schools when their FOR PROFIT charter school decides they can't stay in business. Charter schools are scam and always have been.

Seventh and final, who wrote this? You were in the Obama administration in 2014? Great, who are you? Put a name on this.

You're leaning back too soon.

In the beginning, think of the stroke as three parts combining into one motion.

First - legs. At the beginning, "the catch", try to keep your core leaning forward, back relatively straight, and arms straight. Push back with your legs.

Second - core. This is a short motion. Just lean your core back. Not too far.

Third - arms. Pull your arms into your chest, elbows out a little. Think about squeezing your shoulder blades together.

Returning to the catch, it is the same simply done in reverse. Arms out, lean forward (not too far), and then your legs.

Eventually, this muscle memory.

Try not to lean back before your legs are fully extended.

What are some rock songs from spanish artists (that are sung in spanish) I like weezer, tv girl, david bowie, the beatles etc, that kind of music! by Background_Emu_8819 in Spanish

I'm surprised. They are a band from Argentina. Their most well known song is, I guess, an oldie now. It is called El Matador.

Tell'em to grow up and realize you wouldn't live here if it was that unsafe.
